My wife and I are now looking to go on the 1st Jan-8th Jan 2009. We have decided to fly direct with bmi from manchester as we have done on our previous 2 trips.

I got a quote from skyscanner.net for £822 for two direct flights. Is it worth booking this now or do you think we will get it cheaper??? Also has anybody else use sky scanner????

Thanks

£411 seems reasonable for BMI given my experiance , their prices are very hard to judge , most of the time they are around £500 , but they can drop as low as £300. January is quite month so i really would not like to say , but BMI are much better flight to Vegas than Virgin IMO , so i would be happy if it were me.

Will it be easy to find a hotel with our stay being during new year & the first day of the CES 2009???

you will always find something , it just what that something costs. New Years is the most expensive day/days to stay in Las Vegas , while CES is purposely put in the week it is in because it is one of the slowest in terms of Vacation visitors. don't discount staying at a cheaper casino for new years to save , and then moving to somewhere higher profile after.

if your staying 2nd till the 8th you should find some good deals that will probably off set 1st day of CES . keep tabs on the offer sites from now on wards but start to check regular 12 -13 weeks out .

I think the Palazzo has the edge but there are probably pluses and minuses for them both but just by a hair's breath. The room at The Palazzo is bigger and the seating area is down a couple of steps with an L-shaped sofa. There is also a working desk. They both have dining tables.

We went out tonight but came back early as DH was feeling tired and thought we would have a drink in our room (we had brought some small bottles of wine with us as a 'just in case' measure). Anyway, the maid had only been in and put ice in the ice bucket, left a couple of chocolates and set the music on. Minor things - there is a fresh orchid in the bathroom, plus the bathroom scales and there are three TVs, 2 of them 42". I really am splitting hairs now when I mention the fact that the dressing gowns are really thick towelling cosy ones whereas the ones in The Signature are non-towelling ones. Internet access costs $9.99 per 24 hours at The Palazzo however The Signature charges the $15 resort fee which includes internet access.

On the other hand we actually liked the calmness of The Signature. There is also the kitchen area as well, although the only part of that that we used was the kettle/peculator. The bathroom there has a bigger spa bath and better storage facilities for your toiletries - it was nice to put them out of sight instead of cluttering up the sink area. To get to your room you had to use your room pass to operate the lift whereas at The P there is a security person you have to show your card to.

If I'm honest I prefer the location of The Palazzo but would have no hesitation in recommending either of them. I've probably spoilt things for myself for the future as these two hotels are definitely going to be my benchmarks but think it is highly unlikely we will ever stay in anything so good, especially for what we've paid for them.

PS Did the Grand Canyon trip today - flight to the south rim and coach to a couple of scenic points. It was absolutely amazing. Our only disappointment was that we were also scheduled to have a helicopter ride over the Canyon but that was cancelled as it was too windy.

it's a good place to stay , but with so much choice in similar terms of quality , it impossible to say anywhere is the "best " place to stay.

Mardrew, thanks for that. Blo@dy hell, some benchmark!!! Now you've done it. It's like the first time we turned left onto an aircraft, now every trip costs us 4 times as much as it used to.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
