We're here!!! Landed late last night. Yes, I know you all say not to do indirect flights and I promise I will listen next time as we are feeling shattered before we even set foot out of our rather nice Signature room!!

We are just about to head to the MGM for a buffet breakfast and set off exploring for the day.

I really don't mind the indirect flights. If you get one with a reasonably short (but not too short) connection time, it is fine. Having time to stretch my legs stops me from seizing up altogether.

Have a great time Mardrew, and don't forget to take lots of pictures. I'm quite jealous.

I think the same. The price is higher because of Mothers Day and the spa treatments. Perhaps other hotels will also offer Mothers Day packages in the next weeks.

I am an expert on virgin seating, and my advice is to cancel and go with someone else, or upgrade to Prem. economy, even that would be over priced as the LGW fleet doesn't have the new prem. seats. don't even think about UC as that will set you back the best part of £4000 each. In Y you will get about a hairs breath of legroom in front of you, your seat will recline about 3" from upright, the flight WILL be full, and they will almost surely put out an announcement within 4 hours of take-off saying that they have run out of booze because all of the stag and hen parties on board have drunk them dry. you will also have to put up with the noise and irritation from said parties.
Now that I have had my rant I will answer your question. Apparently those in the know say that the seats you are thinking of are great, as you don't have the chance of the village idiot sitting next to you. My particular choice is row 25b,c. these are exit row seats, they will set you back £50? extra, and you can only get them when you check in, as the staff have to identify you as being fit and able. The best option is to check in the day before (twilight check-in) but I have heard talk over on Vflyer that VS are stopping this service, so check with them first. This also allows you to have first dabs at the exit row seats. The reason for going for these seats is that you get to leave the aircraft first!!! they allow you off as this is the exit and you would block all the prem and UC pax from leaving, so off you jolly well go, hitting the immigration line first before the other 400 weary travelers. Now there is a way of getting 2 for the price of one on theses seats. 25a is the one right next to the door, you do not pay for this as it has the slide thing in a bulb that jut out into the cabin abit, I dont't mind this as I use it as a foot rest. So 25a and 25b will set you back an extra £50. Do not go for any seats that back onto the emergancy exit doors, they do not recline at all.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

yep stoneman has it nailed down to a tee.

those seats are the best you can book comfort wise as you won't be sat next to a random stranger who will either block you in or you will block them in, the disadvantage of them is like he says you will be near the back for immigration and border control, which can have a long queue , if there is anthor plane just landed as well as the 400 people spilling out of your plane. that said being 1st in the queue only means you wait for your bags , so anything less than about 10 rows back waits for about the same time anyway.

book them if you know what to expect at the other end ( they will be snapped very soon i would expect), then see if you can get the seat Stoneman recommends , when you check in (twighlight check in is best bet) , but don't let the fob you off with crappy bulkhead seats.

the seat pitch on Virgin is the worst i have ever experianced as well ( hope the LA flight is better for when we go in 2 weeks :A) . but that said i will put up with it ,if it means getting to Las Vegas . make sure you take full advantage of the free booze before it runs out and if you can take your own headphones with a adaptor , as the supplied ones are beyond crap.

see this seatguru link for info. i,m not sure which 747 the plane is so i have post all
