I'm so confuesed with booking holidays and i don't no if i want to take the chance on waiting. The Virgin flight was cheaper a few days ago so i'm thinking they are going up.
just realised your dates are easter .  . Virgin Direct flight is going to be popularBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice. Trying to book up for my first trip to Vegas next October. Plan was to book flights and then look out for hotel deals nearer the time. Just seen on ebookers 7 nights at the MGM Signature for £760 inc flights with a $140 resort fee. Just wondered what your views were on this offer?0

I know it's a great hotel and all that, but I wouldn't stay there again with that charge unless TOTAL is less than the big 3-4 hotels, and then it would have to be considerably cheaper, as you have to factor in that you are quite away from centre strip. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Thats flying out with virgin - direct flights end of October. Flights - £798 hotel - £868 less discount £144 -£1522 (£761 each)not including resort fee. So would you recommend it?0

You are wrong about the transport you have the choice of Deuce bus which is cheap but you can wait ages for and then you cant get on the first three because they are too busy or cab there is no monorail stop near by and whilst probably not dangerous its not a nice area. Invest more in your hotel and less in your trips you will be glad, if you have to saty at that and of the Strip and I mean have to and are not bothered about the standard of the hotel stay at Sahara as it at least has a monorail station. The other thing about Stratosphere is that you will get stung for a "resort fee" which is paid locally this is per day to use the pool, gym go up the tower etc even if you dont want to use them so make sure you take this into account when comparing prices.
Thanks for your advice. I think I'll leave it as it is for now.
I have checked the resort fee but its already paid for with the cost of booking according to expedia so no extra costs there. The other hotels are nearly double the price and to be honest the room itself looks the same, just a different location. For £15 a night I'm not going to complain if I have to spend a few dollars on a taxi in the evening. At the end of the day we are doing this on a budget and will be our second trip to the USA in 2009 and I'd rather have a budget hotel and a good time, then no time at all.0 -
MarchFinally put together a trip report from October (terribly behind, I am)...for anyone who is interested it's here (and it's loooooong)...wanted to get as much down as I could after all this time as much for the in-laws as for us.
http://www.slotgolf.com/vegas/October2008.htmlDoes remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
ferf,
Wow, what a trip report. Loved reading it, thanks very much for posting it. (Hey and I even get a mention, I feel so honoured!!)
Thanks again.

BUT can you get The Imperial Palace or even The Excalibur for around the same price ???
i really hope you know what staying at the Strat involves .Thats flying out with virgin - direct flights end of October. Flights - £798 hotel - £868 less discount £144 -£1522 (£761 each)not including resort fee. So would you recommend it?
go input your dates into Virgin Atlantic's web site and tell us what price the flights come up per person.
i can see some £408 fares. so £408 x 2 = £816 leaving £706 for hotels. lets say exchange rate of $1.50 would equal around $1060 for hotel
now the tricky bit .. there is no way to know what the prices will be for your dates @ The Signature until a offer comes out. however lets be conservative and say $149 - $179 for week night is a good guess so ( 5 x $179) (5x $149) = $895 - $745 . your probably looking at $250 for weekends .
so yeah a pretty good deal IMO. who is it with ???Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Augustanyone came across any good deals for the Encore yet ? I cant find one.0
