I see the poll runs out in a few days. Suggestions needed for a new one. Mine would be for most loved hotel but then you would have to whittle it down to 10 first.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Would love thoughts on (a) the flight upgrade thing for Virgin from LGW and (b) whether I should just forget the $40 on Stratosphere and book elsewhere...

You can ask for upgrades at LGW. Y to Prem are £275 one way if available. Prem to upper will be n the region of £1,500 one way. There are only 14 upper suites on that flight so availability is usually tight, hence the cost. try pricing up a return on the VS site, it can be between £4,000 and £6,500 for a return. Best option is go via SFO, 50+ upper suites so prices are a lot lower. We got return to Vegas vis San Fran in upper for £1,500 once

thanks entertainer. is the palace tower deluxe for $135 at caesars comparable with bellagio's $129 standard? but tbh maybe the standard caesar will do. do they have jacuzzis and a good view? :)

The website usually lists a full list of room ammenties and has pictures of the rooms. The Bellagio links are down at the moment so i cannot compare like for like , but the Palace tower deluxe rooms look very nice.

A strip view may be available if you pay extra , but i would have faith in the $20 trick .

i loved Caesars when we stayed there, we got a Augutus tower room from a bog standard booking using $20 trick. Caesars one few minor negatives is it's size . it's easy to get lost in.

as i have said many times my Favorite Vegas attraction is the Bellagio fountains . it would be special to have a view of them from your room.

I've not stayed in a standard room at Caesars but have read that the rooms are not very nice compared to what people expect - have read that people think 'Caesars' means luxury but the standard rooms are pretty small and...well...standard. We stayed in a Palace Tower Deluxe room and while it was showing a bit of age it was massive, had a separate spa/soaking tub, etc..not a great view though...at Bellagio we've only stayed in a lakeview room (standard, not a suite) and for the view Bellagio's lakeview room wins - for everything else Caesars Palace Tower Deluxe was much nicer...without the view at Bellagio I would choose the Caesars Palace Tower Deluxe.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

We stayed at the Bellagio and to be honest were not impressed. All the lake rooms were taken so we got a pool view, well of sorts any way. Found the rooms pretty small and the chambermaid service was not up to much. Much more enjoyed the Augustus tower at Caesars. $50 tip if stying for more than 4-5 days would almost certainly get you one of those.
Just goes to show how different peoples views are.

I am really cheesed off. I just typed a long reply and by the time I hit Post, I had been logged out and lost it! Not a happy bunny.

OK the brief reply. I would choose Paris and Caesars over Flamingo.

I think I would choose Caesars over Bellagio unless I had a lake view room. The Bellagio room was much smaller than the Palace Tower room at Caesars which had room for a sofa and coffee table and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom is at Caesars is also very nice with a jacuzzi bath. The only thing that let Caesars down was the housekeeping - cushions in a heap on the floor instead of on the bed, only one glass in the whole room meaning there were none for the mini bar and the mirror behind the bath hadn't been cleaned and was covered in water marks.

The Bellagio room was a lot smaller and without the view I wouldn't have been that impressed.

we've had a flippin awesome room at Bellagio before... had a partial lake view and also a view of the pools (we were on a corner of the tower, high up with massive windows going down both sides of the rooms)

bath tub was a jacuzzi thing and was right next to the window so you could look out and see what was going on

    edit: this was it... http://www.bellagio.com/hotel/salone-suite.aspx

edit2: just to mention, Encore opened yesterday - some piccies here:

Encore looks very nice, but I'd expect that from a wynn hotel. I've still to book my 12 days in vegas at the end of aug so will add the Encore to my shortlist. So far I have Venetian, Bellagio, Luxor (Stayed there last year and loved it, it was just a shame its at the end of the strip) and now the Encore.
