Ha! :rotfl: I'm on the right - and my (very slightly) younger husband is absolutely devastated now. ;)

Pebbles - I tried to find that picture recently and it's not at the link Tom originally posted - will see if I can get it from him as I would love to have it for us.

    alanshave - love the picture!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Hi guys I'd appreciate your opinions on hotels/prices for our 1st trip to Vegas 16th-23rd July.

5nts in Caesars Palace which comes with a free upgrade room to a Forum or Deluxe room - £518.

    then possibly

2nts in Planet Hollywood again free upgrade (hopefully fountain view) - £146
    or
2nts in Flamingo with free upgrade to Luxury Go Room - £74.

    Thanks in advance

Can't comment on the Caesars rooms, but I would go with Flamingo for the second one.

Four questions (sorry!) from somebody who hasn't been to Vegas before and would appreciate advice/opinion.

Firstly, any advice on where to stay for 5 nights from 19th May? Basically I want something fairly central on the Strip due to walking distances but don't want to spend too much.

Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon (formerly Barbary Coast) seems to get very good feedback on TripAdvisor and I can get a room there for the period for about £300. I realise it hasn't got a pool but that doesn't bother me, and given it's on the small side it shouldn't take ages to get in and out. I'm not looking to do much gambling so the quality of its casino isn't a huge issue either.

Does anybody have any experience of staying there, and am I likely to get anything better for a similar price in terms of the room and position of the hotel on the Strip?

Secondly, how good are the buffets/restaurants if you are vegetarian? Are there any to steer clear of?

Thirdly, are the helicopter packages to the Grand Canyon broadly similar in temrs of quality and experience? At the moment I'm probably going to go with Looktours.

Finally, the Champions League Final will be taking place whilst I'm in Vegas. How easy will it be to find somewhere showing it? Is it likely to be featured on a Sports Book screen?

    Yakay,

Not been myself yet but hang around and some of the experts will be along to answer your questions, i'll chuck my two cents in from what i've picked up over the last few months.

If you look a couple of posts up at Trets last post he has some links in there for offers. If you have a look at some of those it'll give you some idea of price. I'll be arriving there the day before you and am staying at the MGM Grand for seven nights (I turn that big birthday between 39 & 41 on the 22nd!!), it is a BIG hotel but we're hoping it'll be easy to get around.

Buffets I hear are not much good if you're a vegetarian and it might be advisable to steer away from them.

Grand Canyon tours i can't help with, we're doing a tour with Senic Airlines which is a full day tour, flying out and touring by coach. I think Pinkpinkfizz is doing that this week sometime and we're all waiting expectantly for the report.

I never even thought about the Champions League final!! I was thinking about the FA cup. I think we thought about going over the the ESPN bar in NewYork Newyork. There is a british pub off the strip somewhere, I can't remember the name, if it comes back to me I'll post it.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Stew
