I like the Strat..its cheap has a good pool and best of all Single zero roullette:j but def not centre strip. Free ride up the tower as well for the awsome view. I only stay there when I am also staying centre strip as well...usually go there weekends to save paying over the odds for centre strip.0

Everywhere is a cab ride from Strat. At least TI, Luxor, NYY you have the option of walking.
Mandalay Bay/theHotel is similarly out on a limb at the bottom end of the Strp.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
SeptemberThis year we stayed in Mandalay Bay so that we could do all the out-of-town stuff and get the car out easily and i would reccommend it. No queue to check in, reasonably priced, hot tub in the bathroom and the staff were great. We then moved to The Venetian and loved it as well as its accessible for all the strip activites and the Deuce.
We went to the Bodies exhibition but i didnt feel quite brave enough to go into the reproduction part of it as the warning sign really worried me. Did anyone go in? Whst was it like?Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Been thinking about going back to Vegas this year for Xmas , as me and my girlfriend have had enough of the family thing last couple of years !!!
What are the prices generally over this period?
Tried to look on Virgin etc but you can not book that far ahead.
I have loads of Virgin miles to use up and the dates I can book most in advance are 330 each..so not too bad...
So glad also when I was there last April I got a players member card from nearly every Hotel I went in , so should have no bother getting good deals for the stay.0 -
AprilTretts dont knock the Luxor. Think we will be staying there about $300 for the 3 nights. In a towr room.on

Their MVP offer.
Unless of course you know better!
past tense, i used to dislike the Luxor , but i saw it in a different light last vist . guess that big black pryamid has it's appeal.if you can get a deal there .. i'm sure you will be happy. but the Luxor seems to specialising in these no refund offers at the moment. if it was refundable i would say book it no question , but you don't know what what might appear between now and before you go. guess the best you can do is risk waiting or book it and then don't look at what you could have had later.
The Stratosphere still feels too far out even walking from Sahara .i still felt a tad uneasy ( but only a tad ) walking up from Bonzana , and did get asked for change twice here when we walked in December on a Saturday afternoon. what i like about the Strat is that it tries hard , and of course that view from the tower ( you do know the rooms are not in the tower yes ?)What are the prices generally over this period?

we just went the week before Xmas . the weeks after Rodeo finals until Xmas week are probably the cheapest weeks of the year. i doubt i will get the Mirage for $75 or The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay for $110 when we go back in April. Xmas week will be a lot more expensive with New Years Eve being the most expensive day of the year to stay. £330 direct is certainly reasonable ..like we always say any direct flight i n the £300 region and your doing well , espically if it is not a late booking. being clever about this could pay dividends. by booking your flight the day it becomes available you should have your pick of seating ( including the coverted 2 on there own out of Gatwick) . i take it you already have a frequent flyer membership ect for using the Money and miles method. if not you have plenty of time to sign up for the Virgin CC and collect some freebie miles.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

We went for xmas this year and had a great time. Apart from a few trees and lights it was just the same as any other time of year. We booked last March and were able to get a 750GR suite in Mandalay Bay for £95 a night. I phoned them and cheekily asked for a discount and they knocked $50 per night off right away. I daresay i could have gotten a better discount but i wasnt cheeky enough to ask again.. :rotfl:
I would recommend NOT going to a buffet on xmas day as the queues were massive. Book a table somewhere nice, Top of The World was amazing. If you need any more info just PM me.Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

If you are interested would suggest getting a quick, free email account somewhere to post over there as you won't be able to send a private message unless you're a gold member, and I would never recommend posting a 'real' email address on a web board.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Billiant thread
I am heading out to vegas next June (09) to get married and i cannot wait. I am trying to convince OH that we should go on a wee factfinding trip first but he's not convinced just yet!!
We are looking at getting a package deal with virgin - although its early days yet so that might change!0 -
January/FebruaryJust a quick defence of the Excalibur I went there for the first time in 1991 and I stayed there again in early December this year as it was mega cheap .
I found it surprisingly good I had one of their non refurbished rooms and the nice lady at check in was quick and helpful and the room was comfortable quiet and had a great view. The downside is the buffet which is best avoided but there are dozens of others to chose from in Vegas. I am a 3 times a year Vegas nut and have stayed at most places over the years and the Excalibur is certainly on my list of acceptable places to stay.0 -
I'm thinking that if I break up my cruise package, I could work out a better deal.. Are there any travel firms that will let you negotiate on prices for Vegas hotels like you can do with cruises?
Thanks!0
