I have stayed at the Sig. twice and didn't realize there was a wet bar in the suites. By that do you mean the sink in the kitchen?? (knowing the American penchant for being creative with descriptions)
there are a few sites that let independently but you have to watch the extras they charge when they quote prices 30% less than book. Some of these "extras" are compulsory and usually end up with you paying the same as booking direct, and of course they are not cancel-able.
I have enquired about a dozen times about accommodation and even using the online diary have always been told my dates are not available.

yeah thats the "wet bar" sounds nicer than kitchen doesnt it hahaha

I think ill play it safe and book direct - after hours trawling google think there are a few dodgy sites and like you've said the sellers adding lots on

Many congratulations, we got married at the little chapel of the west and it was brilliant, Signature is good because of the Space (but the bathrooms are not huge) but you will not get away with a "shindig" in there, its a quiet resort and if you start making noise you will get shut down pretty quickly. We had a Penthouse suite after meal ect at Mirage this started doff at $1000 or $1500 a night but the price kept dropping and we ended up paying $300 a night a real bargain and there is no reason why yuo cant do the same, we got the bar stocked and returned what we do not drink. It is illegal to drink any alcohol in the hotel that is not purchased there we like most tend to ignore that rule but did not want to risk that on our wedding day particularly when we would be having a few people there and there would be a chance of noise and a possible complaint.

The penthouse was huge with a bathroom you really could play baseball in, separate loo and wardrobe, tub and shower huge vanity unit and two seats in front of it.

Another option may be a Hollywood suite a MGM but the risk here is that even though it has been booked months in advance that there is not one available when you check in and that you get bumped down to a spa suite, this happened to us on our honeymoon and despite my pressure they could not give us one although they were generous with the compensation.

The deals for August will not be out until probably about June but August is slow and midweek is great so you should be able to get something really good closer to the time, for last year to get a decent suite $200 would have been a little too light but with the credit crunch you should have a bit more luck. I am not saying wait until June to book but book a room that is fully refunable and then start looking for deals around May/June and then cancel what you dont need, I have done thifs for Xmas and just started canceling some of the 6 bookings that I have !!!

I do think that you need to think about what you really want suite for if you do want to have a party there or even say 10 people and a few drinks you need to get a suite that allows you this or you do run the risk of security kicking you out which would ruin your day.

Tips on Little Chapel of the West
I personally think that the LCOW is the best Chapel in Las Vegas and when you look at some of the others you can not see why people go there, LCOW is classy and feels old and I hope these tips help you.

It is very hot in August and there is no waiting area with aircon guests have to wait outside with the shade of Pagoda so best to make sure that they do not turn up too early.

Call them and see exactly what your wedding package includes we opted for the most expensive that included a large number of photos, what we were not aware was that these photos were all of one pose and you had to pay for any additional and it was expensive. We struck a deal and got no prints but all the photos on a CD and this suited us but I did not really want to be "dealing" on my wedding day.

They will send a limo to pick you and the bridesmaids up this will wait for you and will take you or any other guests to any hotel on the Strip, my bride got picked up at Luxor and then we drove to Venetian for drinks, the limo took my parents and some other guests to Venetian.

We turned up at the Church the day before the wedding to check everything and whilst this still may be a good idea they thought we were odd as most people just turn up for their ceremony.

If any of the guests need the loo before the wedding there is a nice clean toilet there but it is not signed and you need to ask for it.

When you come out you are only 5 mins by car from the Vegas sign make sure you get photos done there but drive there do not try to walk, having our photos there was great as all the cars coming past hooted and waved really cool, we also got clapped every time we walked into a casino or bar.

This link tells you all about the licence make sure you take the right money they only take cash and don’t have change and get narked if you don’t know this. http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/getting-married-in-las-vegas-the-legalities/

If i can help at all please do not hesitate to conatct me I had the best day of my life and this was in part due to help from others and it would be my pleasure to share some of that around. - Simon

Hello - thanks for above. Im already pretty much planned out - its just rooms we're sorting. Ive been using theknot.com - they have a vegas board with locals and other american girls - so had all there pics etc to go from.
I booked the chapel last Jan, and agree, i think its the nicest standalone chapel by far.

For the reception - ive got Maggianos booked, 4 hour free bar, happy days!! The suite is my last thing to sort, ideally id have Panorama Suite at Planet hollywood, but dollar wise its coming up to much, and tbh more i think about it, probably wont have energy for after party!

Your pics are great, thanks for sharing

Anything is achievable if its slow the least you shoudl get would be a good view dont ask for a Strip view but asy for a South facing room oout back you see right down the Strip that way much better. We had a penthouse after our wedding there was truly awsome
i must have a nice smile as on all but one occassion (curse that miserable old trout in the Luxor) i've managed to get a good view room just by asking... once, we even got given a free bottle of 'sparkling wine' at TI :) (I can only assume it must've been 'off' or past it's sell by date :rotfl: ) - i'm with the other poster, no matter how many times I read how much the $20 is 'common practice' in Vegas, I still don't have the guts to do it! :) it doesn't bother me too much to be honest as it seems most people advise to book what you're happy with and anything else is a bonus :D maybe i'll have the balls to do it next time! :D $50 for a suite would be nice - especially as we've had to adjust our original budget / plans slightly due to 'credit crunch' (blah blah blah :) )

We had our reception at Maggianos it was fantatstic my wife wants to go back next time (three weeks) as she was so nervous she hardly ate, we got married at 2pm and found that when we left Maggianos evereyone was flaking as the little time in the heat really exhausts you.

Oh one thing check with the locals for the rain you can get flashj storms in August I think it is generally early morning but best to check

We've tried the $20 trick 'properly' twice and been successful both times (both at Bally's). We've also requested a complimentary upgrade and been successful without the $20 twice (Bally's and Caesars)...in the latter two cases we tipped after the upgrade...so for those who aren't comfortable with the $20 trick up front, you can at least ask if there are any complimentary upgrades and tip after if you want.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

$20 trick does not work at MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay as staff have been told that they will be sacked if they take "bribes" for room upgrades. My view (and I have been to as Vegas about 40 times) is that the "trick" works and the money makes it work and I also generally tip more than $20 I will be in one resort for 6 nights this year and will use $100 in hope of an upgarde there.

I know you and a some others on here will tip/bribe more than $20. IMO that makes it worse for those who are only willing to part with $20 as the desk clerks will get used to getting $50 or $100:confused: . The upgrade works (except at mgm) with $20! but for how much longer?

I can understand a little bit more for a longer stay, however I got a resort room at Alladin(I know it was a while ago) for a 5 night stay for $20
