Absoloute steal, the $20 upgrade tricks works a treat there as well http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2008/10/16/20-upgrade-trick-an-update-las-vegas/Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -
hi guys, me again
Just wondering:
When we rang the mgm grand to book our rooms for next week they asked if it was our first time there. We replied yes.
Do you think there is any chance of a "natural" free upgrade- or worth giving the $20 trick a go-dont want to offer 20USD for somethng we would have got free anyway:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

maybe ??? The MGM Grand is where the $20 trick has least success , because staff are not supposed to accept it.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

that seems to be the highest 'guest' room available - so a suite would be our $20 upgrade option... but any ideas which one we should aim for?

Tower Suite sounds goodbut is it deemed achievable would you say?

Anything is achievable if its slow the least you shoudl get would be a good view dont ask for a Strip view but asy for a South facing room oout back you see right down the Strip that way much better. We had a penthouse after our wedding there was truly awsomeIts Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

I doubt it, most people going there will be on their "first time". It is worth trying with the $20 altho I have never had any success there (stayed twice) in fact both times they have tried to give me a smoking room when I have requested non smoking. Last time they could only get me a non smoking room on the 4th floor, looking in to carpark. They did give me my $20 back tho

In your opion ferf is around the $800 mark for 5 nights in the spa suite a fair price??
Hi - I doubt the good deals for that period will be out yet (can't hurt to get them to adjust your rate to the latest deal, though)...I checked and we paid $114 including tax for a Sunday night...at the time it was a good deal...though it was a year ago and with the credit crunch it seems hotels are offering even better deals than before.
There is a 25,000 person convention at Mandalay Bay from 2nd to 4th June next year - so that may impact rates at Luxor (pushing them up a bit as those not wanting to pay MB prices may shift to Luxor or Excalibur due to the easy walk/transport links)...so...
Sorry, but really can't say for sure. So long as it's cancellable, can't hurt to keep it and keep looking.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
whats the $20 trick?0

$20 trick does not work at MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay as staff have been told that they will be sacked if they take "bribes" for room upgrades. My view (and I have been to as Vegas about 40 times) is that the "trick" works and the money makes it work and I also generally tip more than $20 I will be in one resort for 6 nights this year and will use $100 in hope of an upgarde there. Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -
