    Hi all,

i'm off to vegas in just over 2 weeks(27th nov) and am flying BMI direct from manchester, i have been told that seats will be allocated upon checkin(from expedia who i booked through) is there any other way of booking your seat early?

We are staying at TI and wondered if anyone has any advice on what rooms are best, we've booked just a standard room but gonna give the $20 trick a go so any advice on a better room would be great!!

Also we wanna go to the CG whilst there and have not prebooked as dont really know what the weather will be like late nov early dec, We were looking at doing the south rim by plane and heli down the to the bottom, anyone got any experiences of this and any advice on whether its better to prebook or just book once there?

    Cheers!

call them up , they can alos put in request for bulkhead /aisle seats while your at it . you are advised to join the Diamond club as well , and collect the miles for your upcoming flight.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
  • Cheers mate, i'll give them a bell and see what they say, i have already signed up to the diamond club!!

Anyone got any advice/experience of good firms to book trips to the south rim of GC with?

Ive seen wlswhere that majority of places on internet are only agencies and that there is only 3 tour operaters that actually run the trips but they dont seem to offer the same trips on their websites?

Also is it better to book before you go or take a chance and book once in vegas?

    Cheers!

    Hi Coz

I am off to vegas on the 24th November in a group of 8 people. Personally I would have liked to have booked the GC trip before we went because it is something that we have all decided that we want to do however the others in my party weren't so keen so looks like we are going to wait til we get out there now.

Also, I guess that by now most trips will have been booked up for the best times, the trip that I was looking at on viator.com isn't available in the late afternoon anymore.

I will be interested to know if you get any other advice though - maybe I can try to pursuade my friends to book if there are any good deals about.... or be interesting to know if there is anyone with advice of places/coupons etc to book out there?

Id just like to warn anyone who is thinking of getting a woman for $35 to beware.

Ok, i was left on my own in the hotel some time back and had a card saying i could get woman for $35 i thought id go for it. I called up and a beautiful black woman turned up. She explained that it was $35 for 15 mins, and then $125 for every 15 mins thereafter. I was fine with that thinking that 15 mins was more than enough for seconds and a few pints in the bar afterward, anyway she explained the way it worked and bored me half to sleep then said lets go (basically)
I said right so the 15 mins starts now then (just making a note - although i secretly knew 15 mins wouldn' be a prob) And she said "no" and explained that the 15 mins had started when she turned up - even though she had spent 10 mins boring me with do's and dont's. Needless to say i explained that i was having none of it and sent her on her way.

Moral: If you do get a woman round (or man) then as soon as she walks thorugh the door tell her/him you know how it works and get it sorted before it ends up costing more than its worth.

Sturll- I picked up hundreds of cards to give to my perverted friend as a present we were wondering how this *special* deals worked and no we know.

As a heads up to everyone else- when I was back home I gave the cards to my mate who was very happy with them- we discussed whether or not the girls pics were real. Seeing a web address on the side of one we went on the net to look at the page- sure someone were genuine. Unfortuantely one we looked at had some sort of malicious code in it and 20 seconds after thinking this page is taking ages to load my hotmail account (messenger was open in the background) sent email to EVERYONE in my address book an email from me selling them electrical goods, viagra and cheap sex (i got a lot of angry replies) with a link to another page.

I don't think any will be going in the afternoon now, probably not much later than 1pm anyway. Remember they are not allowed to fly in the dark,(except for the strip tours) which it would be by the time you got back
We nearly got stranded on a trip to GC. Our hele had a warning light come on to say there was debris in the gearbox!!! We had to make an emergency landing in the canyon, another chopper in the area came down and luckily sorted it out. The pilot said that much longer and we would have been ferried up to the top and a bus would have taken us back to Vegas because of the diminishing light, a 6 hour trip!!! As it happened, it worked out great as we got a twilight strip tour on the way back.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

how many passengers do the helicopters seat?

I still think that a group of 8 might be too big for one (based on nothing other than my general impression of the size of helicopters), so I would think it's even more important to book in advance to be sure all of you can get on flights close together.

Hadn't even thought about the shorter days impacting the flight schedules...but that makes sense - sunset that time of year is 4:30pm Vegas time, looks like about 5:15pm GC time.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

£ trading at $1.48!! This has gotta hurt. I feel sorry for all the MSEr's from this board out there at the moment. Not gonna get didly squat for their £'s. and lets face it, that's one of the big reasons why we go, to shop!!!
If you had taken £2,000 in spends a few short months ago at £=$2 (we actually got $2.07) and took the same money out now, you would be nearly $1,100 worse off

My friend runs a business in Vegas https://www.nitetours.com I asked him which tour company to use and he came back with this "Call John Busskohl Las Vegas Helicopters 702 736.4422 tell them Darin from Nite Tours sent you" http://lvhelicopters.com/

Darin is a good friend and says that he thinks that these are the ones he has sent his family on when they visit. I have not tried them yet oh their helicopters take 6
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

Yeah all the helicopters I have looked at definately take only 6 so we would need to get 2!!! I am a bit annoyed that some of the other people going with us just won't book before, they are adament that we will get a better deal out there with the coupon books that you get in the hotels etc!!! I totally disagree especially as there are so 8 of us and we have specific trip in mind!!

    1. I don't want to go there and be disappointed that we can't do the trip that we want to do
    2. I don't want to go out there and end up paying more

The trip we have in mind is the Champagne Picnic to the West Rim (yes I know that the South Rim is the "proper" Grand Canyon but we definately all want to go by helicopter) and the price on viator.com for this trip is only £173.97. Seems like an absolute bargain to me????????????????
