Best of luck to you...I would be a ranting, raging mess right about now so well done for being so calm about it. :)
I am prepared to sit on it a bit to see if any of the other flights they have from LAS get axed in the near future. I don't want to go making arrangements then finding that they axe that flight as well. We have plenty of time, and I know they will get us home a more reasonable way, they are just trying to get us on the flight with the cheapest seats. I am really surprised that they have decided to cut a nice day time route and left a horrible redeye.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

My company in the US took part in a big trade show each year in Vegas - every single person who went booked the red-eye home to maximize their Vegas time...suspect a lot of conventioneers look at it that way so maybe it's a more popular flight time than it would seem?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

cramped conditions? I take it its been a while since you last flew long haul with My travle/TC.
    Hi wdyw,
Yes - June 07 was the last time I flew with My Travel on their (not so) direct flight to Vegas from Man - Las. Took over 16 hours, picked up at Glasgow and my knees were nearly by my chin (I would class myself as average height & weight). It was a plane designed for a 4 hour jaunt to Tenerife or such like.

I know that you are a fan of the MyTravel /Thomas Cook flight and I must admit that I HAVENT yet flown with them on their new planes.
Given that, again, the dates I want to travel pick up at Glasgow and ditto on return journey it's unlikely that I will - BUT never say never with the current news regarding routes to the wonderful world of vegas!

I really wish that flight didnt stop in Glasgow enroute as I would jump at the chance to try out the new planes!

Im tempted to put a fiver on My Travel being the next British Airline to fold.

I flew to Mexico with them years ago and they were snide.

my best advice is fly to LA and then drive to Vegas . there are plenty of flights there .
    Hi trets,
Thanks for the advice BUT I dont drive (dont ask!) and my other half has only been driving for a year and tbh the roads in vegas look mad to me - I would be scared silly doing that (yes, I realise that I am now leaving myself open to everyone saying that the roads arent as bad as they look, but its really not an option for me). Also, I think that there are rules about newby drivers not being able to hire cars until they have been driving a certain number of years or something...

I presume if I get a flight to LA there are always short hop flights to Vegas?
Though, I suppose this is the same as getting an indirect flight from Manchester to Vegas via either Newark or Atlanta with the likes of Continental/Delta/US Airways.. etc.

    Back to the drawing board!

    Hi sturll,
    Really?
As far as I was aware there were only BMI & MyTravel/TC who provided a direct flight from MAN - LAS. If My Travel folds too then there will not be a current direct option for anyone! Im sure this will have a knock on effect on the other flights increasing their prices etc.

Its funny but on Friday I put in my dates on Virgin Atlantic from London to Vegas on my chosen dates and the price was < £1000. I put the same dates in on Saturday and they had gone up >1,200 - funny eh!!!!

What with the exchange rate and this bad, bad news about flights to vegas is seriously hindering the average persons options of getting to vegas and bagging a bargain eh?!!!!

Out of interest - has anyone on here been effected by BMI stopping the direct flight to Vegas where they have already booked and been swapped onto an alternative???!!! Can you please advise what alternative was offered to you?

Is it imperative you fly direct?

You might as well believe somebody telling you that Leeds are going to win
the Fa Cup this year. They are in no trouble at all ....at the moment. Being a charter company they are far more flexible in scrapping routesat a moments notice that scheduled carriers and their overheads are minimal comparedto many. one of the first signs of a company struggling to to pull the plug on staff training. in the last couple of months MyTravel have increased dramatically the number of their workers starting Part 66 or FdEng courses.

A lot of websites are set up to keep your price enquiry in the system for a certain period of time so that when you or others try the same flight it has already you down as a "potential" passenger and if necessary ticks over to the next price band depending on how many seats have been sold (actual or imaginary)

    Point taken.
Anyway, I decided not to wait and phoned up Delta. The nice lady there put us on the 1:30pm flight to Atlanta, which actually makes getting the connection that much easier, she also did our June flight as well. I have emailed Expedia and Jetabroad and told them that Delta have authorised the change and they are to issue new tickets. I have no idea why they tried to put us on a flight that would miss our connection by nearly 2 hours:confused:
