It DOES take more than 20 mins to walk from the MGM monorail to the strip.

The thing about Vegas is it takes ages to walk anywhere. But 20 mins from a room to the strip - unlikely, possibly in somewhere like Ceasers or walking up from Mandalay. Not from most though.

It depends one where your room is on the corridor and how busy the lifts are, our room was the very end and I had to go from my parents room on the 6th to ours on the 27th (different lifts) and it took over 20 mins there and back
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

I know this might sound like a stupid question to some....:o

We are starting a touring holiday next year with 4 nights in LV and its our first time there.
We've been told that the hotels we are staying in, in LV and LA, have valet parking. We've never used valet parking before, how does this work?

DH is concerned about the safety aspect of parking in public parking areas and thinks that valet parking (free, I think in LV but expensive in LA) might be safer (we will have DD with us). And what would be an appropriate tip?

While it is a big place no way in the world would it take a normal person 20mins to walk from any room to the strip ....and as it for being a mile to the strip from the lower shops, only if you did about three laps of the main casino floor on the way out!
I guess I must walk slow, it has taken me 20 mins from room to strip, maybe the mile from the shops was a bit OTT (was quoting what an employee there told me), but however you look at it it is a BIG hotel

Where are you staying in Vegas.

I normally use valet parking unless the car park is quicker. I have never been worried about safety in an hotel carpark . I tip $2 on collection. I have heard horror storys of cars coming back with dents in but touchwood it hasnt happened to me.

    Hey everyone

Am just booking up my car hire for Las Vegas and wondered if anyone had any feedback on airline network?

    Their prices seem really low compared to other providers, and their insurance coverage seems to be brilliant;

    Loss Damage Waiver - LDW

Loss Damage Waiver is not an insurance, but an agreement with Dollar Rent a Car that the renter is free of any financial responsibility for damage to or loss of the vehicle, provided the renter remains in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Only Keys, Tyres and windscreens are excluded.
In short this means the car is completely covered, without excess.
    Supplemental Liability Insurance - SLI

Supplemental Liability Insurance provides additional 3rd party liability cover to you and any other authorized drivers. It provides US$1 million of cover in the event a liability lawsuit is brought against you by a 3rd party.
In short this means you are well covered for any claims made against you.
Under & Uninsured Motorist Protection - UMP

Unlike the UK, the mandatory level of insurance cover required by law varies from state to state in the USA and is very minimal. In some states, no insurance cover is mandatory at all, meaning you could potentially be the victim of a road incident involving a US driver with no insurance at all. Under & Uninsured Motorist Protection gives you cover for injuries or damages you may suffer as a result of such an incident.
In short this means that you can still make a successful claim for injury or damages, even if the driver responsible has no insurance whatsoever.

I've checked all the t&c's and they seem to cover every angle meaning I wouldnt need any extra insurance.

    Thanks!

Yup, airline-network's price includes all the insurance you need as an overseas driver. I've used them a few times over the past few years as they've always been the cheapest for our dates. If its the cheapest price you've found i would go ahead and book through them without any worries.

I will - maybe not the limo though!

Going to Ceasers Palace first of all will try the $20 trick, do I need to know about the different rooms, or just hope for the best?

Ask for one or two notches above your booking......too much and you wont get anything. If youre in Classic room, ask for Forum or Augustus Tower IMHO.
