    guys, I need cheering up!

So I was in Vegas in August for a month, and it was the best few weeks of my life! But back in England it's so depressing, and it's unlikely I can afford to go again for a couple of years :( Stupid student debts!

    Any advice? :p

Yeah do what im having to do and deal with it (harsh I know but you had a month there). That and read as many trip reports as you can and live the vegas life through other people.

My current plan is to get engaged---only so I can have a stag do there with the lads.
  • My girlfriend isn't a big fan of Vegas (thus going there with a mate) so I don't even know when I'll get a chance to.

And there's no way I'm getting engaged just yet haha :p

While I agree in general, would suggest a move that close wouldn't give as much variety as spending part of the time mid-strip instead of both south strip...personally I couldn't see up and moving 2 hotels down myself. :)

Only other thing I would say is if the weekend is at the start of your stay, moving from MB to Excalibur might be a bit of a shock...would be better in theory to stay at Excalibur and 'upgrade' to MB I think.

Note that we had no problems with Excalibur so my comments aren't based on any distaste for the place - but it's not on the same level as MB as sew said. :)

Yes I totally agree better to be at Excalibur then MB but maybe better being at either end of the Strip, I have to admit many years ago I had two nights at Tropicana and then 5 at Luxor as we arrived in Vegas early and needed a cheap room ;-)

I'm also depressed as I went to Aspers casino last week to play in a poker tourny and it just wasnt the same as Vegas.

Rubbish set up- not enough dealers to cover the tables, £3.50 for a drink (when will English casinos start offering cocktail waitresses with ridiculously priced drinks).

So much choice and complex rates with some great offers it will take 2 weeks to figure out what suits me best..

Quite fancy mandalay bay or excalibur now!!!

Oh if you see a rate that you are happy with check its refundable (will tell you when you go to book) and book it the rates go up and down like a yoyo so what is say $69 todaty could easily be $99 tomorrow, as long as it is refundable book it when you see a good rate.

sorry if this has been posted and I missed it...but noticed that Vegas is now included in the Virgin rewards sale.

Take a look at these brilliant Economy reward fares. We’ve 50% off travel from 1 January 2009 until 28 February 2009 on selected routes. Enjoy maximum fun for minimum mileage.

Vegas is shown as 25,000 miles.

Whethere there is actually any availability I do not know.

    Hello all,
Just seen BMI's announcement of cancelling MAN - LAS Flights from April 2009. I, too, have flown with BMI and classed them as the best flight Ive experienced to Vegas.

Its such a shame - really disappointed and its a blow for travellers from the North.

As has been said there is really only Thomas Cook direct (or picking up in Glasgow in the June/July months) and I swore I would never fly with them again! May have to look into that now.

Not really sure what to do now..... Connecting flights are back on the table I suppose. I have been checking my dates for June on the BMI website every day for a while now - not sure where to get the cheapest flights from now - anyone have any advice for me?

My flights are due to be 28/6 to 12/7 (14 nights) and I live in Leeds - have never flown from either Heathrow or Gatwick - how painful is this extra travelling time?!!

Any helpful suggestions, tips for getting lowest fare prices on other airlines would be most welcome - who should I check and when do they have sales?

    Hope someone can help.

Tell me about it. A new casino opened up in Leeds... weird name but looks pretty flashy. Still expensive adn nothing like Vegas though.

The people also make Vegas amazing. So nice and friendly... It's just an amazing place...

I stayed in the MGM sig and would not hesitate at booking there again. When people say no casino on site- it means you have to walk a couple of mins to get there- and even then it's on a moving walkway.

I would also note that when I was told the MGM was massive- I was dissapointed when I got there. Not as big as I imagined.

Not that big? You didnt stay there tho. It can be 20 mins from a room to the strip. From the shops on the bottom level it is about a mile from the strip, and as for self parking...forget it.

Well - I have just been provisionally looking at the My Travel/Thomas Cook flight from MAN - LAS - thinking that the direct nature of the flight may out weigh the cramped conditions.
The date I need to fly - IE Sunday 28 June 09 is the ONLY day that month that the flight actually stops in Glasgow to pick up passengers before heading on to Vegas and, surprise, surprise, my return date 14 days later does the same on the way back!!!
There are no other flights on similar dates that I can do - so thats that one out - price at mo is currently £1,110 and thats with a £320 online discount..... Ouch!!
