Note the dining credit - $50 per day.
Here's your chance to experience a AAA 5-Diamond Luxury Suite at one of the most upscale resorts in the U.S. Stay at The Venetian for only $169 a night, most Sunday-Thursday dates through Jan. 25. Weekends start at just $209 per night.
What we like most about this deal is that you'll also receive a $50 dining credit each day to use at the resort's 20 world-class restaurants.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Out of interest, how far does $50 go at Venetian? Is it worth paying the extra $10 a night over the Palazzo offer? Presumably $50 buys a couple of brunch buffets a day?
$500 wouldn't buy a buffet in the venetian, never mind $50 .....don't think there is a buffet! (I'm sure I'll be corrected if there is!)0 -

Personally, I would spend it all at Grand Lux, I think.

wdyw is right - there isn't a buffet.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchI only know this cos we were looking at around then... but then I thought... are these kids old enough for Vegas? i'm not sure of the USA's schooling system but jsut a thought... we avoided it just in case it may pop the hotel rates up a bit
most US university undergraduate students will be between 17 and 22...so some will be, but some families will travel during spring break (when even the younger kids are out of school) so it can sometimes be a busier time.
March Madness (US college basketball) is also a big time for Vegas and there can be some overlap with spring break I think.
What we normally do is look at hotel rate calendars - if rates are more expensive than normal any given week, we book flights another time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
November/DecemberMarch Madness is a killer on the rate calendars. Avoid it if at all possible. Also, Vegas full of drunk youngsters is not a good time to go.
Here are the important dates for the 2009 tournament:
Selection Sunday: March 15, 2009
Opening Round Game: March 17, 2009
First Round: March 19-20, 2009
Second Round: March 21-22, 2009
Third Round: March 26-27, 2009
Fourth Round: March 28-29, 2009
As you can imagine, the ones that coincide with St Patrick's day are the busiest. That is also another busy period.
I would definitely avoid 15th to 22nd if I had a choice.0 -
AprilTravelzoo deal - Venetian...book by 03.10.08...this is totally one we would use if we had the time next month - have never stayed at Venetian and would have a night here to try it out without question.

Enjoy everything The Venetian has to offer, including its newly remodeled suites, which are nearly twice the size of the average Las Vegas hotel room. They feature modern European design, sunken living rooms, marble bathrooms, 3 plasma televisions and remote-controlled Roman shades and curtains.
wow good deal indeed .
$50 will probably be a reasonable lunch tab in some of the Venetians places to eat.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

OctoberWe once did a whole trip and tried to see how little we could spend, it was real fun doing that. Bought an American Casino Guide and away we went. food bill for 7 days was $70 for the 2 of us. Ellis Island is the place to go. It's a local casino but fun all the same. They look a bit rough and ready in there, but it's mainly construction workers going for a beer after work, and they love talking to you if you have a Brit accent. $1 for pint, they have there own brewery, try the Amber beer, like a smooth bitter. $1 for a pint of coke, Steak dinner for $6.99 BBQ for $7.99 with players card, and 241 with an ACG guide. You will never get a bigger meal for the price. We always end up taking some home in a doggy bag and eating it cold after a long night out, sounds gross, but hey, we like it. And finally, AFAIK they are the last Bastian of actually having slot machines that give out real coins, ah, the sound of all those quarters hitting the tin, I DO miss the old Vegas!!
Great to see you did LV on a budget to see how little you could spend. I do this every trip and have a great time. I have ditched Virgin and have to change flights now but that gives me time to stretch my legs. I use the bus from LV airport to go downtown instead of a shuttle or taxi and have never had a problem. I use off strip buses that cost £2.50 for 24hrs instead of the strip bus which is $5 for 24hrs. I just can't bear sitting in constant traffic jams on the strip when I can get there twice as fast on other buses. I too use the coupons from ACG and POV for buffets. I travel alone so the coupons that give you half price are great. Buses take me to hotels I would never usually visit for a cheap lunch. With all the money I save I treat myself to one "Posh" buffet per trip. May be PH this time. I have 7 nights booked downtown in November for £108 and that is the lowest I have ever paid for a room. Who says there is a recession on? This will be my cheapest trip ever and I always have a great time.
Happy holidays

Did someone say it's okay to phone the hotel if I find the price of some of the nights goes down? I have booked direct with Bally's so have paid a CC deposit. Does that come under best rate guarantee? (Yes, I could spend the whole $20 in the casino, yes I am tight)0
