Yup fraid so. He can walk thru it to get from front door to room elevator, but cant stop. However, Ive seen what makeup and a false beard can do to a teenagers appearance.illegitimi non carborundum0

If you've got 150k's worth of miles i cant see how you think they're pointless
I understand your point but let me explain.
To upgrade any seat to say Upper class i have to first buy an Economy seat that is changeable. This costs say £600 Rtn, Upper class return might cost £1000. Thats a great saving of £400 fair enough, but when you think that costs me £600 plus 80,000 miles its not as good as it first seemed.
The free flights or companion flights always seem to cost about £300 return which works out only about £80 m,ore than the advertised fare.
And, if you ever manage to be able to book the actual flights on the actual dates you want to then i will personally ship 50,000 of my miles your way.0 -

if virgin miles were transferrable then 50k's of miles would be winging their way to me right now.Go back a few pages and you'll see my post about me booking flights to LA for next may/june, got the flights/dates exactly that we wanted, and worked out cheaper than i had budgeted.
UC return would have been around £2500 each, I got upgradeable economy tickets for £660 each and upgraded using miles. from the website i thought id have to pay around £2200 + miles but after speaking to one of the sales women she sorted me out for what ive listed above.0 -

You know i have to admit i have never actually spoken to a customer services agent, just what i have seen and worked out using their website.
If what you say is true then indeed the miles will be worth their weight. I thankyou for your advice.0 -

online, the 'flexible ' economy ticket for our flight/dates was £1500 each, but thats just the top end all singing all dancing one. So from the virgin website i was looking at buying a UC out and PE back ticket for the missus and using my miles for a reward flight. That worked out about £2380 i think, which as its our wedding i was gonna pay.
However, I rang the flying club, got put through to awoman in the UC bookings dept. She looked at my account, and said I could buy 2 economy tickets that can be upgraded with miles for £660 and upgraded instantly, there was no sign of this fare available online at all. I was well shocked, and dead chuffed as it scored massive brownie points !!!
give them a ring im sure you could put those miles to good use0 -

SeptemberHi everyone.
We have flights & hotels booked for 4 of us leaving next Monday - 29th.
We booked the flights several months ago but things have changed since we originally agreed we could afford such a holiday. I am self-employed and thanks to the stupid media frenzy about the "credit crunch", my business has hit rock-bottom (I earned £75.00 this week). My Brother, who we are travelling with has been put on a 3 day week!
Now, we have booked and paid for the flights, rooms & car hire but my Brother is saying he'd rather not go as he will just be thinking about the money all the time he is there. He also doesn't want to spend 13 hours in an plane to get somewhere where he has to watch his spending. I am a little more pragmatic but have to realise that being self-employed, whilst in Vegas, I'm not earning anything. Hey folks, there could be 4 free tickets to Vegas on here soon!
Seriously though, my wife and I are happy to accept a more "frugal" holiday if it means we can get to Vegas full stop.
Do you guys have any help and advice for someone on a tight budget? Should we just bite the bullet and not go? Is it worth travelling knowing your spending power is next to nothing?
Any help or advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problems. My advice........GOOOOOOOO!!!! Youve paid for the flight and car, which presumably are non-refundable. Hotel.....if thats refundable, why not trade down to Orleans or Plaza or IP.....all of which can be picked up from around $30 a night. Or theres others just off strip just as cheap.
Re-read this thread from page 1. Vegas can be one of the cheapest places in the world to stay. Examples......Ellis Island Steak Special $6.99 for two with the ACG voucher. Shopping......go to both of the Outlet malls instead of the Fashion Show Mall or Caesars. Queue up at the tix4tonite booth for half price show tickets. Go visit all the discount coupon websites for more food bargains. Pick up coupon booklets when you get to Vegas. Play "penny" slots to ensure that the waitress comes along to take your order for complimentary drinks (tip her a buck or she wont return). Buy some stuff over there that you can ebay when you get home for a profit eg Ipod Touch (careful with the customs duty), Abercrombie and Fitch clothes (do your research to see what sells well) and leave the tags on. Do all the free stuff there eg Bellagio fountains, Mirage volcano, MGM white lions, TI Sirens, Circus Circus, go visit Hoover Dam for the cost of a couple of pounds of petrol, watch the gondoliers at Venetian, go see the Eiffel Tower.....and take photos all the while cos youll regret it if you dont. Go visit a timeshare presentation....thats a few hundred bucks for a few hours.....go "separately" to ensure that each couple gets the cash.....if its in chips, back red and black on the same roll with a few of bucks on the zeroes to cash it in for real dollars.
If I think of any more, I'll post below.
Have a great trip.....Im certain you will.....even on a budget.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Two meals a day.......have a large brunch buffet say 10am,and you wont need to eat again until evening......and if you start the evening buffet and say 4.45pm, youll get it for the price of the lunch buffet.......check the times. Also, I forget the name, but theres a really really cheap handbag and womens accessories shop at TI......I think everything is ten bucks...funny name.....Im sure theyd go well on ebay or make great present.....my girls loved them, and my missus complained that I didnt get for her as well.....theyre really blinged up and look far better than their cost.illegitimi non carborundum0
