Well that's how I felt about it as well.....after all at the end of the day it's just somewhere to lay your head.....everyone slated the IP as well but out of the 3 hotels we stayed in (Flamingo, tropicana and IP) it was my favorite......We will probably break our 10 day stay next year into 2 hotels and Excalibur and IP are my choice so far

Funny my experience of IP is bad stayed there many years ago, to get to the room we ahd to hike across the smoky casino, housekeeping were rude and the room was dirty which I called housekeeping up to address whihc is why they were rude ;-) We saw room service meals left outside rooms and not collected for over 24 hours and the pool was horrid.

Now Tropicana I loved for the money great room, great pool nice casino but I eat at the buffet for the frist time in Spetmeber never again, I am also slightly worried as the hotel was shut alst monday as they fouind EColi in the pool and they have entered chapter 11 bancruptcy protection ;-(

II have never seen uruly kids or groups of kids in Excalibur anymore than any other casino,

That was our experience the first 2 or 3 times and we didn't know what all the fuss was about.

Then we stayed from Boxing Day for a week and OMG - children EVERYWHERE...it was like they boxed all the children that would have been there all the previous trips and released them in one massive, writhing mob.

What we have assumed from this is that if you go outside of US school holidays, it's fine...if you go during US school holidays then beware.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

We bought a bottle of whisky from the liquor store near Harrah's for our casino host at the IP. I would have got it at Duty Free if I had known we would meet up with him, but all the contact I'd had was by email and he emailed me when we were in Vegas to say where he would be on certain nights. We popped along to see him and he was very grateful.

Our room at the IP was lovely....yes it was smaller than the one we has at the Trop but we did get an upgrade there to the paradise tower room which was huge.
We didn't have far to go to our IP room either ....about 4 doors down from the lift....I found it perfectly adequate for our stay my only grip was the noise factor but in all fairness the casino host we booked with did pre warn us that we would get this with a strip view room.
We were also lucky with our Trop room as the upgraded room was one with a strip view and with easy walking distance of the lift.
The room we has at the flamingo.....even though it was fairly large was miles away from the lift and though we did have a fairly nice view of the gardens we were directly above the restaraunt so it wasnt the best as there were 3 huge great air con units.....but there you go
The Flamingo was my least fav hotel I found it overcrowded and impersonal and the attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired......wouldn't go there again unless I had a really good deal

The IP has been refurbished since then :)

It has also unfortunatly been bought by Harrahs which probably means that the standard of staffing has fallen ;(

The rooms was fien (once clean) and the location good but it would not be in my top ten to saty at again I am afraid.
