Hi all,
I "think", i know what i want............. It takes me 20 mins to decide what i want from a McDonalds menu so with all the advice and guidence available on this site it has made my chosing murder. I have told my missus " ok this one is deffo the one " so many times ,at some point i think i have chosen eto stay at every hotel on and off the strip at various differnt times...:(
However, having looked at Location, pool, price and facilities my preference in order are TI, Paris, and Harrah's, for a final double check i would value your opinion on these.
We are not driven by the room standard as we will be out most of the time, but do want a nice pool combined with the option of walking locally.
We are going 4 to 14 August and have the following prices:
TI $1230
Paris $1456
Harrahs's $1270
Also whilst i am on rush..........we are flying with AA and cannot understand their web site to see if we have in seat videos consoles or not, does any body know?
Cheers in advance
Steve
I agree with others about order of hotels, BUT if the pool is important try Flamingo, great location and a great pool0 -
Thanks again for all your help. I'm trying to book for the 25th to 29th August (checking out on 30th). Hub's not too happy about make 5 separate booking just in case they make us keep changing rooms, but not too bothered about giving up "freebies".

Did you read my post about staying at the Excalibur? I dont think anyone on here would reccomend it for your first trip0 -
MarchRemember you cannot depend on getting the hotel room until 3pm-Murphy's law diatates when you really don't want a wait and have plans for the day-that'll be the one that won't have late/early checkin and out !! Eating into holiday time-if that matters to you-may not be worth doing.
I like the idea but not the faff involved in repacking and unpacking-we are doing it this week but have a night at the Canyon between so needed to pack up anyway. If you've picked the right hotel you won't want to move anyway
I feel exactly the same - but I know others who have done it just check their bags with the bell desk and go out for the day and check in later...so it can be done with a minimum of hassle. I think I just like to spread my stuff out in the room too much to have to gather it all together and repack. I do think that if you stay at hotels at different parts of the strip it does sound like it might make an interesting change over the course of the holiday...sometimes I do wonder if we're not missing out by not trying it, but too lazy to bother.
As far as a gift for your host - we've never dealt with a host (well, once on checking out over the phone from the hotel but never knew her name) so no experience but I'm sure any sort of gesture you wanted to make would be appreciated. I know they aren't allowed to accept cash but some sort of chocolate - especially something that they can't easily get in the US -would probably be nice. Even if she's not a chocolate fan, someone in her immediate family will be.Maybe have a look at duty free on your way out to see if there's something that would work.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

OctoberTango was it you who stayed at excalibur and then got your mum to book the mirage for from the uk, just wondered because sue is thinking of booking there
Well we went on Halloween night and there wasn't a kid in sight......I actually quite liked the place and would certainly look at staying there next time round if we were going to stay that end of the strip:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -

I been in the Excalibur loads of times and stayed there twice and would do again without hesitation, if Excalibur and Luxor were the same price it would be on the toss of a coin. I have never seen uruly kids or groups of kids in Excalibur anymore than any other casino, (circus circus excluded, where i once saw a child asleep on the floor inbetween its mother and a slot !) in fact the place I have seen the most kids believe it or not is Wynn. I am sure that this idea of Kids and Excalibur was an idea that popped in to somones head and then got in to guide books and internet forums.
To me Excalibur is one of the best value places on the Strip, nice big rooms (though a little dark) clean and friendly staff, the casino is fun low limit and friendly, sure you are not going to get the same experience staying here that you woudl shoudl you stay at Bellagio but its not Butlins either.
SimonIts Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -
OctoberWell that's how I felt about it as well.....after all at the end of the day it's just somewhere to lay your head.....everyone slated the IP as well but out of the 3 hotels we stayed in (Flamingo, tropicana and IP) it was my favorite......We will probably break our 10 day stay next year into 2 hotels and Excalibur and IP are my choice so far:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0
