I leave to go to New York/Vegas tommorrow, but didn't decide to open an accoutn with Nationwide till last week, i opened it in the branch on Tuesday (1st July) and my card arrived yesterday, no pin yet but as far as i'm aware, most places in America don't use chip and pin.

Correct for purchases at shops/restaurants...but if you want to withdraw cash at an ATM you will need the PIN.

MK- you do realise that the legal age for gambling in LV is 21?

Thanks to everyone who posted about the nationwide card- i got a lot of good information from the posts and have decided to apply for one. :T

Ive never been "carded" for gambling at an LV casino. However, if you try to buy alcohol at a bar under 21, thats a different matter......BUT, Ive never seen one of the waitresses giving out free booze in the casinos check for age.

I went in 1997 when my friend and I were both 27...she looked quite young for her age (still does, wench) and got carded about 14,000 times...every time we set foot in a casino, bar, anywhere the legal age to do much was 21...myself and the 2 other friends (who were 25) never got carded...but she did.

And I have seen cocktail waitresses carding customers at the slots at least.

I do hope that MK is turning 21 on this trip!

I'm assuming getting "carded" is ID'd? I'll make sure to carry my passport at all times!

Froggitt- I am 28 and got carded a few times on my last trip while ordering drinks at the slots. This was at MB and Palazzo- funny as this was my 5th trip and had never got carded at the slots. Annoying thing was that i had no id on me at the palazzo  Lesson learned lol
