Same with travellers cheques but £1750 worth of USD travellers cheques. Travelex take NO comission and give same rate as cash.
Now for £3.50, travelex say convertnig the money back into £ from $ when you come back from holiday, they'll give you teh same rate. Most places will give about 1.93 going out and 2.01 coming back so you lose out. This way I'd get the same going out as coming back
So if I lost $1000 cash, used $500 travellers cheques for chips, doubled up to $1000 cash.. i could convert the $1000 into £ using the same exchange rate and not lose out
complicated but it works.
i think you have pretty much all bases covered . even with a Nationwide Debit you would not make huge savings , so if you desire the security of travellers cheques , i think your good to go  . have fun :beer:Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Got it now, as trets said without the debit card you are getting best exchange rate (the commission is taken bfore they give you the rate), understand the buy back now as well. You neber know you may win bucketfuls of cash anyway. I did have it in my head you were taking sterling cash and not dollars.0 -

I had an argument with nationwide. When I got declined the letter said simply you have been declined with no reason.
When I called they said the reason would be on the letter and they don't have access to it anymore... after 20 minutes of arguing they just said sorry sir, the reason is on the letter and there's nothing more we can do for you.
Checked again, no reason.
Did a credit check, all good...
I think I'm just too young for them (20)
Anyway yes I've got all the bases covered ^-^ I'm so paranoid about money. I may need that £1750 but I may not.. that's why TC is prob the best (in USD with buyback) as it's insured, I lose no money if I don't use them, and I get a very good travel rate with their rate matching too![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

i think that might be the faster option as you can show your ID, etc. when you put in the application.
I applied online, then got the form through the post to sign and take into a branch with my ID, so it took a bit longer.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
how long does it usually take to get the nationwide debit caerd??
I leave to go to New York/Vegas tommorrow, but didn't decide to open an accoutn with Nationwide till last week, i opened it in the branch on Tuesday (1st July) and my card arrived yesterday, no pin yet but as far as i'm aware, most places in America don't use chip and pin. I have a dollar currency card which i'm also taking with me just incase and $760 in cash0
