Anyone got any idea how you phone the U.K from LV without paying a fortune?

Various options have been discussed here...the only one we've ever used is calling cards purchased in Vegas (but not the ones in the machines at the hotels - only the ones in the shops like Walgreens/CVS/petrol stations) but others have other suggestions - maybe search the thread for 'calls' or 'calling'.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

If the flight back connects in Chicago then yes, your bags will be sent onto your final destination - you won't see them again until you've arrived home.

I would think an hour and a half would be fine...on the way out it would make me more nervous as you would have to clear immigration, get your bags, clear customs, recheck your bags and get to your gate (probably clearing security again)...but heading back home I think it should be fine.

We're planning on driving a very small stretch of Route 66 (Seligman to Ash Fork) on the way to the GC as my father-in-law has a lifelong fascination with Route 66...so should you have any comments about that stretch would love to hear them! I admire you for taking such a long road trip - I bet there's a lot of interesting things to see along the way.

In terms of long stays, I managed to book 2 people at Imperial Palace for 16 nights at £711.38
    26/8 - 28/8: £29.99 per night
    29/8: £44.98 per night
    30/8: £74.97 per night
    31/8: £44.98 per night
    1/9 - 4/9: £24.99 per night
    5/9: £69.97 per night
    6/9: £74.97 per night
    7/9: £39.98 per night
    8/9 - 10/9: £29.99 per night

    That was via Expedia.

That MGM deal is SUPERB. MK, if you can cancel IP, do so now.

Book two lots (one in each name) of 8 days at MGM for your dates, comes to $552+$552= $1104, plus 9% tax = $1203, converted at $1.94=£620.

Plus two lots of $25 food credit.

Plus its a much better hotel than the IP.

  • When going through the link, I did 2 dummy orders for 8 days.. but:

    8/26 $149.99 8/27 $149.99 8/28 $149.99 8/29 $149.99 8/30 $149.99 8/31 $149.99 9/1 $149.99 9/2 $149.99

Its a lot more expensive to be honest if you actually put the order through. I don't know if I'd be able to cancel IP anyway, but the location is perfect as I'll have no car (station right in the back garden).

I'm not going to sleep anyway :) I'll use my hotel to sleep, but apart from that it's got a big pool, and the rest of my time will be out elsewhere :)

    Absolutely agree sew!

Here we go with new MGM offers for Players Card Club members. This is a deal: Right now nearly every day is available for $69 in
August and September - also the weekends! :D

    MGM from $69
from vegas-hotels-online.com, name: Ultimate Escape, double rooms from $69, $25 bar or restaurant credit - 2 free drinks at West Wing lounge, stay from July 9, 2008 - September 30, 2008
    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=001&host=promo&code=SDM060&kbid=755041&sub=en

We're heading out Sat 20th Sept ad Flying back Fri 26th Sept. We've been waiting and waiting for the right deal to come aong, but I didn't think it would be this cheap at this hotel! From Saturday until Friday (check out on Friday morning) it would cost us $414!!! £200, works out just over £100 each when you put the taxes on!

We was hoping to stay at the luxor in a spa suite (just for the novelty of a hot tub in the window) but now noticed that the MGM have Celebrity Spa suites. Ive read MGM isn't keen on the $20 tip with employees being told not to upgrade etc......but what would it cost to do the upgrade? The offer is only coming up with standard rooms?

I'm a bit perplexed as to why you went with Expedia? I think you could have gotten better rates booking direct - without any offers.

From what I can see - standard rates for a deluxe room would have been $1047 so even after 9% tax that's $1141 or about £585.

And again, that's without trolling for any deals...not sure if you booked a deluxe or classic room but classic would be cheaper still if available.

Plus the potential to earn comps toward the room if there are gamblers staying there.
