Having stayed at quite a few Vegas hotels, The Orleans is in my top 3 for value, and feelgood factor. A huge plus is that it is easy to get around, unlike the MGM which is Waaaaaay too big.
.
We had EXACTLY this choice this year.
We have show tickets for the MGM for several nights so it was first choice until we talked it through (mixed group one couple and mum and teenager) and realised none of us like the Mega hotels and the shuttle to the strip from the Orleans probably takes less time than walking from some of the rooms in the MGM to the Strip-prices have ended up almost exactly half with the latest Orleans discounts so for 7 nights we're paying $290 (only one weekend night -we're in Arizona for Saturday night) with a couple of free breakfasts thrown in too.
Entertainment value should be high at the Orleans as there's a beauty pagent on when we're there-always good for a giggle people watching around those kind of events-and Cool and the Gang are playing the Orleans arena which will be fun. (I think I've stayed at the Orleans 6 times now and we've always ended up paying much less than the website price by using their price match)
We have lots of friends staying at the MGM that week for the shows there so will probably spend time there too but I'm sure we won't regret staying at the Orleans again and our food costs will be very reasonable when we eat there as opposed to the strip and more cash for spending when we ARE on the Strip.

Can anyone advise me on this please? Im 27 and going back to Vegas for my second time, the wife drives and so takes her photo drivers licence, I dont and as such had to take my passport pretty much everywhere with me, not something I am too keen on doing. Can anyone give me an idea of a good photo ID thats not gonna cost too much, is fairly easy to get hold of, and will be back within a couple of months?
Cheers

Apply for a provisional driving license? Also, I think people have taken photocopies of passports with them when out and about in Vegas.illegitimi non carborundum0

Pretty much just passport and driving licence (or military ID)-technically I think it's supposed to be a full licence but I doubt they'd notice in VegasI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

MarchI carried copies with us this last trip (first time, normally I carry my driving licence and my husband's passport as like you he doesn't drive).
The only place we tried to use it required an original (Caesars Total Rewards booth)...I think that those who have said before that they take copies with them have indicated that one of the problem areas is Harrah's owned properties which Caesars is one. Most report that copies are accepted most places.
As I normally have my driving licence with me and as my husband and I are normally together it would usually be fine for us for most things...we don't get carded for alcohol anymore (boohoo!) and if we're going to us a CC and need ID for that I can use mine...we've always thought that if he won a big jackpot and needed his ID and the copy wouldn't work I would just go back to the room to get it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I really like Continental -lots of good connections, food is better than most and seats are bigger than Virgin's.
I had one bad experience when my connecting flight was delayed and got someone REALLY unhelpful at Newark who insisted I'd have to wait 24 hours for the next London flight (although did supply hotel and food vouchers which some carriers won't do for weather delays) and wouldn't listen when i pointed out there was a code share with Virgin a mere 12 hours later. However when I called their CS (on the phonecard they gave me) they sorted it all out and all ended well and I flew home on the earlier Virgin. I've flown with them since and would do so again.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
