hi, travelling to las vegas in 4 weeks and then onto la. shame i didnt spot this board prior to booking hotels - staying at the luxor but found considerably cheaper and better since! anyhow im plannning on visiting 6 flags magic mountain whilst in LA..does anybody know of any places to purchase discounted discounts?/

thanks

We got our tckts on the sixflags website, was much gheaper than the gate prices and you can print at home. I read stonemans post, we went last year and I dont remember having to go through metal detectors and I dont remember seeing any gangs or being aware of any. As he says though it is a fair drive north of LA so as long as you are aware of that.

Hi,

I need some help, please. With the strong pound and euro :j against the dollar, I am already browsing through macys.com and dillards.com (which are on the shopping centre near the Wynn, can't remember the name) for bargains. And everything seems like a bargain compared to prices here in the UK. However I know there are import restrictions...

Can any of you give more info on these restrictions? For clothes, I plan on just removing the tags and making them look a bit worn. I laughed :rotfl:when I read nvh had only taken socks and tshirts!! I hadn't thought of that, I was worried I might not have space in the bag for what I bought - when the solution was to take an almost empty bag!!

What about fragrances and electronic equipment, such as console games? I might (might is the word) try to find one of those small laptops there, how about those?

All will be for personal use... But can you give some idea of what to expect? The other day as I was returning from Spain via Gatwick, a LV flight was retunring at the same time and I noticed the guys at the "nothing to declare" exit were gently "harrassing" the LV people. So, should I worry?

just got back from Vegas took enough clothes for a couple of days .the shopping centre near the wyn is the fashion mall currently most shops have sales on made a killing with clothes and stuff at macys and other stores went to the outlets but with the strong pound shopping was a dream we bought stuff at ceasers forum shops which have some great shops in [oh don't miss the cheesecake factory @ ceasers forum ]also the shops at planet Hollywood mile of shops lots of bargains to be had
as for restrictions we had worn most of the stuff but i did get some prissies for peeps which we brought back .inc perfumes and after shaves . dont know about electrical or console as i did not buy any of that as i did not have any room in the cases lol

whilst playing golf at the weekend I was chatting to my mate who went out to vegas about 7 years ago. I said that we were planning on spending 2 weeks out there. His reaction was 'oh thats too long, you'll get bored'

Now I can sit and play poker and blackjack for as long as i have $$$ to bet with and the (future) missus is more than happy soaking up the sun by the pool. Bearing in mind we're getting marrried out there within the first few days of our stay, and having 14-20 friends and fmaily over for that, i think that once they've gone home and we're out there on our own then we'd need 2 weeks to see/do as much as we can.

So, is 2 weeks really too long out there, would we be better off spending a week in vegas then flying elsewhere for a weeks beach holiday somewhere?

iDaz i went for 2 weeks last year and am going again for 2 weeks this year and i know i wont get bored.

you could be there for 2 months straight and still find different stuff to do, the key is planning what to do otherwise you will miss great stuff as you wont have time to fit it in

got back wednesday after 2 weeks im shattered .

we stopped at the mgm grand tried the $20 trick no joy but we were more than happy on the 15th floor looking out to nyny and down to manadlay bay

while we were there we went to see the KÀ by Cirque du Soleil as we were stopping there we got 30% off tickets which we were about 10 rows from the front it was fantastic and will defo go to see the other Cirque du Soleil shows
1 thing if u go get tickets about half way back as a lot of stuff goes on we had to keep turning around .and it will be a bit cheaper
we eat emeorils and seablue both very good although seablue was the better food not forgetting starbucks mgm has 3 only 2 were operational

we also did the grandcanyon heli tour with maverick a bit more expensive but it was fantastic overall it was 4 and half hours whick took you to hoover damm and back down the strip at dusk to see the lights stopped off at the canyon for a break served food and sparpling wine but tasted good all tthe while we were flying they played appropriate music like the dambusters theme while we were flying through the canyon we bought the dvd of the flight and pic obviously
went round most of the hotels heres alist of some stuff worth taking in

mandalay bay -house of blues we went to see purple reign for $10 dollars well worth alook oh and last night we were there we eat at the china grill which the food is the best chineese we tried not to dear as big portions so do not bother with starters .

luxor meant to do more here but ran out of time if ur passing the flight bar checkout the cocktail list they have trio sampler cocktails ie bellini
u get 3 different sampler s to try for 12 dollars which the wife loved

nyny
nine fine irishmen had a few good nights here

bllagio what can i say we had weekend bruch at the buffet paid an extra $5 for champers awesome buffet $60 for 2
went to the bar next to the jasmine which had a live band on which was great
bellagio fountains enough said

ceasers shopping here is not that expensive allthough more gerrish we eat at the buffet which was ok and rubbish compared to bellagio although if you like bette midler or cher u can go into there own shop dont forget the cheesecake factory at the forum shops

venetian wow nice hotel

Hi all,
Whilst bored this morning i looked at BMI for prices on Business class seats (again!), to see if there was a cheaper time to go and it surprised me to see that flights for the same day which i previously looked at had gone down in price by nearly £1500. Can anyone explain this? Also has anyone stayed in the Wynn, we are looking at getting a suite there and would like to know if they are good/worth the money. We stayed at the Luxor previously, no complaints with the hotel, just the location bit far from centre of strip, but not too far!

Wynn is fantatstic all the rooms are suites there though its alot of money we got a deal and paid $149 a night which was good, we spent $300 a night on penthouse suite at Mirage whihc was very nice not as good in quality but about 3 or 4 times as much footage. You must remember that Wynn's loaction at the North end of the Strip is not that different from Luxors at the South. As I said Wynn is lovely but the thing that you fin is that everything is expensive there from coffe to cokes from the shop and you end up spending more than you bargain for. Thanks Sew,
is the Wynn a lot more expensive than the Luxor? I remember in the Luxor, the small Kiosk in there 20 marlboro lights were $7.50 but a short walk up the road to CVS pharmacy and they were less than half the price. We've not set our minds on the Wynn for definite but it does look the nicest and i really do want it to be a holiday to remember.
