just wondering if anyone has ever boooked a room for 2 people with 2 queen beds when theres actually going to be 3 of you staying. thanks
So long as only two of you show up at check in, you will be fine. If you need more towels and toiletries, just tip housekeeping a bit more. You can ask for more key cards after you check in for no extra cost. Don't worry about it. They only get !!!!ed off when there is a large group of people using the same room and making a load of mess. (as sometimes happens at US Uni vacation times)

    Hi all,

Me and the wife are going to be returning to Las Vegas, but due to children we are not able to go back for probably 2-3 years, looking at Feb 2011. We want to travel direct from Manchester as we live in Glasgow and i think this is the easiest option? We are also wanting to stay in the Wynn in a parlour suite as we intend to go for 2 weeks. Has anyone got advice on which travel agent to use, when to book and any deals to look out for? Any advice would be brilliant, thank you.

I've done the three in a room (and even four) several times in Vegas. The hotels really aren't bothered-as long as you aren't really obvious at check in about it and don't make loads of extra work for housekeeping. Never been charged for the extra person -more than 4 is pushing it as it breaks firecode and THAT's when the hotels get annoyed (I know you're not doing this-just mentioning it in passing).
We;re in Vegas the same time as you-I'm just about to write a post about how I saved money booking it all as some of it may help other people.

wow in 2011 the City Center project will be be up and running with a lot of the current construction north of the Fashion Show Mall completed as well.

guess what i'm trying to say is things change , there may be new airlines operating routes by then , or there might fewer .

giving you advice as things stand now , the best travel agent you can use is yourself. booking things for your self seperate nearly always seems to come out a lot cheaper.

look into your flights as far in advance as possible, you have plenty of time to start collecting airmiles for things like Virgin and BMI ect. then look to book your flight as soon as your dates are released. you will have to get a feel around then if it is a good price or not, but Feb is a cheaper month to fly as a rule.

once your flight is booked ,the hard part is done, simply sit back and wait for a worthwhile deal to come in , while booking a fall back that can be cancelled direct in the mean time . offers on the deal threads in post#1 usually start to appear 12 weeks out. if you are not set in stone about the Wynn you can cherry pick from the high end hotel offers as they appear, i would advise a weekly check from about 6-8 months out , and then as often as possible 0-15 weeks from your stay ( if you check the offer listing links as often as possible you will know what is a good price and be able to pounce on that good deal quickly when it appears).

    good luck :A

Remember though that flights (eg Virgin) wont become available until about 350 days before you fly......an exception to this is if you book a package holiday (eg Virgin Holidays).

but on the plus side as well, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on when the sales appear typically, and how much the flights go for as they can vary so much...

like many things , it's supply and demand - air fairs seem cheaper (at the moment) around Jan -> Mar

Get an idea for what seems a typical price :) (although god knows how much fuel will cost in a few years!!!!)

yes the $20 trick works , though the more upmarket you go the more you might need to bribe the clerk.

the best way of getting BMI miles is to get a BMI credit card which gets you 20,000 miles and then 1.5 miles per pound spent. BMI is part of the Star Alliance network so you may find that you get a indirect flight with one the other members ( US Airways , United ect) .you need 45,000 miles for a return flight to USA or you can use half money and half miles for 25,000 miles + £140 + taxes . we did this with stooged miles for a return to and from Boston with United and US Airways . see full list of how to spend here .

Froggit's advice about getting in the day your dates flights become available is sound epically for reward flights. of course there is no guarantee that there will be any reward flight on your dates to your destination , but seeing as it costs nothing to stooge the miles ( provided you pay your credit card in full of course) , you have nothing to lose by collecting 25,000 miles each and seeing if you do get a considerably cheaper flight.

you might as well do the same trick with the Virgin Credit card and flying club as well , on the off chance you might go with them . better to have the miles and not need them , than need them and not have them . don't forget you can currently buy miles for Virgin flying club , that has worked out a lot cheaper than just buying the flight. your Virgin credit card satisfies the previous account activity clause in buying money and miles fares . see post #5 for info on the money and miles method of booking Virgin flights. although they do seem to have made this little trick a lot less of a saving in recent months .

hopefully Virgin will have some new planes by 2011 , but i'm not holding my breath
check the expiry of all miles though
