November/DecemberThis is the one we have just used. It was delivered to the UK and I activated it just before we left. They will not work in the UK, but the rates were good for the USA.
I got it from a link above. :money:
The least you can top up with is $15, not $25, which is better. The cost of calls is the same for any destination, so I could call home for 35 cents a minute which I thought was a bargain.0 -

Thank you for taking the time to post the link - thats great!
I have ordered two already.
Couple more tips for anyone wanting to do something similar- copy your contacts to your phone so that you will have them when entering your new Sim in your phone
- If you do want to take your Sim with you switch off your voicemail before leaving the country and switch back on when back.
- For you phone to work it needs to be UNLOCKED AND Your network provider needs to unblock international calls AND Your handset ideally needs to be quad band ( I think mine is tri-band, but I'll take my chances!).
This is definately the way to go - there doesnt seem to be any hidden catches.
Pebblesmax - did you think the service was good - did you have any problems at all?
Thanks again,
Steff;):hello:My name is Steff and I am a Vegas Addict :j0 -

The service was great. It was easy to top up, just a free phone call. You do have to add the international 0044 bit to your numbers for them to work, but mine already had that since I have a Spanish SIM too. You should be fine with a tri-band phone. My new one is a quad, but the SO's is tri and it worked fine in his. I used 89109 as the zip code for my number and got a 702 Vegas number.0 -

Looking at that link I'm confused!
Putting the USA in as the country you're calling from it says £1.78 a minute to call the UK. Says there's a 14p per min surcharge to call mobiles too
Receiving calls is worse than on O2
Incoming calls£2.09SMS outgoing£0.24SMS incomingFreeBalance enquiryFreeBalance rechargeFreeHelpdesk hotline£1.69Call set up (one time)£0.17
How did you manage 35 cents a minute??0 -

November/DecemberTry This link. It is where it gets you if you click on the "If you're going to the USA click here." That shouldn't confuse you I hope.
Call rates
Call destination Call cost per minute
USA domestic calls 19p per minute
Calls to the UK 19p per minute
International calls* 19p per minute
Text messages (within the USA ) 6p each
Text messages (international) 6p each

Im sure that come the end of the trip i'll be dragged kicking and screaming back to the airport as i dont want to leave the place.
Parents went out there about 4 years ago and only had a few days there before driving down to LA so they're looking forward to being able to come out again next year.
My real worry I guess is having enough $$$ to spend while out there, hopefully a few decent wins early in teh trip will sort that out!!
we have booked up the Chapel of Flowers up near the Stratosphere. The same mate of mine who mentioned 14 days being too long also got married there and from what we've seen online its got consistantly good reviews. So we're all booked up for 19.30 on june 3rd next year.
Finally, for all those virgin lovers (and im talking about the airline). Tomorrow night sees them host a special online poker tournament for flying club members, where the winner takes a prize of 150,000 miles. Its free to enter if you're a FC member and Im sure you all are :rotfl:
Which tournament is this, I can only find a free one at 2030 but it is a private tourny and a password is needed.0 -
