March
- Normally we book economy, and upgrade at the checkin desk to Premium economy. The seats are usually two seats at the window end, I find this a better layout. - Are the Virgin planes (from gatwick) three seats at the each window.
- IRO upgrading to economy plus, can this still be done on Virgin and when would be the best time to do it.
I am looking forward to our ten days at the Signature, but I'm thinking I should have stuck with united for the flights after reading this
Upstairs PE is configured 2 and 2 so window and aisle on both sides...downstairs I think there may be a couple rows of 4 in the middle with 2 on either side (next to the windows)..cannot say for certain as have only been upstairs in PE before.
As for upgrading, on the way out, stoneman posted recently about this recently and sounds like he's always had luck getting to the counter very, very early the morning of the flight. On the way back we have occasionally seen PE upgrades available but again, we get there very early - usually about 10:30...last time the 2 women in front of us got the only 2 PE upgrades available.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchThank so much ferf! - Whilst checking out this deal - which seems really good and very tempting - I noticed that Travel Zoo were advertising a code for The Orleans also which I have hastily booked as follows:-
Excellent - glad it helped...interestingly it was not included in their Top 20 email which surprises me as it does sound quite a good one!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Hi
Long time lurker, first time poster on this thread. Every time I read this thread, I can't wait to go back!
I'm heading to vegas for my third time in October, previously we have done a multi stop holiday where we flew LAX to McCarran with United/Ted and last time we flew delta from edinburgh (via Atlanta).
I had a preference to United, however I got a good deal and am flying Virgin this time through ebookers. Having read through the recent comments I'm concerned about these virgin flights and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts/advice on these points

I think I may have been a part of this Virgin Bashing. At the end of the day, it's a big metal tube that takes you the the greatest city on earth... If it was a choice between Virgin and another airline I'd probably give Virgin a miss, but on the other hand if the price was right I'd fly with them again - just wouldn't pay over the odds like I did last time for the privilege.
I'm staying at Signature too for a week on June 24th - I'll feedback when I return.
25 days to go (and only 10 more of these at work, and another 4 of these in Prague for a stag! )..... June's the greatest month ever!!!!!

yep you will get vouchers at check in. these type of extras are not usually hard to come by other means , they often hand them out for free anyway . make sure you ask about them at check in.
The Main Negative about Monte Carlo is that the City Center project is being constructed next door. this is why it seems to be cheap and has loads of offers. get a room on the opposite side if you end up staying there. other than that it seems a perfectly accecptable place IMO , the pool often gets rave reviews and the rooms are not moaned about .

I'd give a thumbs up to Papillon http://www.papillon.com/ - last Saturday I took the Golden Eagle Air Tour with them. I didn't feel comfortable dealing with all the cowboys and resellers of flights in Vegas so checked it out on line and then phoned them from the Hotel to book cost $259 which was the all in price inc taxes and fuel surcharge. Had booked for the 23rd but flight was cancelled just after my pick up due to bad weather in Canyon.
Nice staff both the drivers and pilot. Flight was the last of the day at 6.15 saw a great sunset on the way back here's a couple of my not too good quality pics
Could i ask you about the package you took?
Im in Vegas next Thursday and as me and my partner are on a budget we'd like the tour where you fly there, taking in the sights of the hoover dam and vegas strip and then stoop down into the canyon.
Then fly back without stopping at any cowboy ranch's etc..
As the different companies have different names for the packages im find it hard to book the correct one!0 -

This is the link to the flight I took (non landing in Canyon)

Papillon seem to run theirs out of Boulder City - I think to do the Strip you would need to take one of their other flights going from McCarran http://www.papillon.com/popris/show_package.aspx?package_id=71&lang=en-US
Try phoning them they seem a helpful bunch. Hope you get something booked & enjoy it, for me it was the high point of a short 3 night stay0 -
SeptemberHas anyone ever upgraded at the airport with Continental? If so, any ideas how much it would be from Vegas - Belfast??Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Have to echo what trets says, it is right next to a massive and I mean MASSIVE construction site. I personally wouldnt stay there while it is going on, especially as there is so much choice in Vegas
Yes you get any freebies at check in0 -

I agree with you (and photome) on this.
For the OP, to get an idea of the scale of construction (and it's just an idea, you can't really understand until you see it!) check here
a construction photo with a bit of MC on the left.

And an aerial view -

MC's hotel is the sort of upside down Y.
I would also probably avoid it during the construction personally...some reviews have said that the construction noise starts quite early and goes quite late, etc.
But if you're prepared for the construction then it may be OK - I think a lot of people go not knowing and are then surprised and disappointed.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
