The Department of Levelling Up was all mouth and no trousers, just a show to pretend the were doing something for the "red wall". Johnson is a has-been, yesterday's chip paper, and his bleatings are of no consequence. (For balance, the same applies to Blair who keeps sticking his nose in.)4

Consultation after consultaion, instead of getting on with job
Just another Sunak failure
The new PM MUST activate the code of practice well before the BPA load of rubbish hits the street ..... it's not a law
So when the legals quote the BPA / IPC code of practice .... take it with a pinch of salt ... it's meaningless

patient_dream "Will they allow the SCAM PROVIDERS, THE BPA/IAS .. who scam millions of motorists every year to contime ??? ...... WHAT NEXT FOLKS"First step is to put pressure on your local MP to ensure this issue is not "overlooked" in the post-election melee. eg "Dear MP can you please ask the relevant minister for assurances that the Private Parking Code of Practice will be tabled by DLUHC for implementation before Easter 2025" MP email addresses available online. Make a noise!!

just watched an item on BBC news about the BPA Code due in Ocrober.Absolutely hopeless with no mention of the Government code due soon. It is clear that the BBC and media at large do little research.
When would be a good time to get new MPs to raise questions in the House of Commons ?

Protest said:The PO/Vennells comparison to DLUHC rests on the governance failure in both cases which results in innocent individuals being exposed to harm when they might rightly expect to be protected. It might be interesting to do the maths to compare 900 SPMs to the thousands of motorists who have been left unprotected over the last 5 years or more.Coupon-mad said:Millions of motorists.
It's not as if the Conservative government and DVLA were unaware of the private parking industry's sharp practices, they've had the evidence for years. (Though the DVLA state they delete PPCs CoP breach complaints at 3mths, strange when they ask ATAs and PPCs to retain complaints for 12mths)
Their failure over these years to implement corrective solutions is rather mystifying as is the reply I received from DLUHC Correspondence Unit on 19/6/24. Seems all that evidence collected hasn't changed DLUHC opinion as they still believe that "PPCs who do not follow their Trade Association CoP risk being banned from being able issue pcns."
To me there is something about this whole lenghty saga that just doesn't add up. Whilst I'm not 100% convinced the new Government will correct past failings I will badger my new MP as @Protest suggests.
I firmly remain of the opinion a statutory public inquiry is what's needed here. To examine why millions of motorists for years were left exposed to harm affecting their well-being / finances and identity persons responsible for allowing what many call the private parking industry scam.
Lets hope the dream of seeing the likes of Andrew Pester BPA, Will Hurley IPC, the DVLA and DLUHC questioned by a Jason Beer KC become a reality in the not too distant future.
