REVIVING THE PRIVATE PARKING BILL

Protest

Progress by DLUHC on the Private Parking Code of Practice has been abysmal and is now at a complete standstill until after the General Election. BPA & IPC continue to thwart the will of Parliament, most recently by publishing their homebrew Code which ignores all of the main "teeth" that the 'proper' Code should contain.
How best might pressure be brought to bear on he new Government to introduce an effective Code with teeth by mid 2025?

It doesn't need reviving. The legislation is in place and the Code will happen after the General Election.
Everything is in place but the final draft IA and Final Public Consultation is needed, and was about to be launched. It has been interrupted temporarily but work is ongoing.
The 'good side' guys & girls on the Steering Group (including me) will exert pressure on whichever new Minister has this project.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The BPA and their pals are off of their rocker in their feeble attempt of a new code of practice when there is a LAWFUL one ready to go
The BPA VERSION is not lawful
Who would take notice of the BPA .... if they were serious, they would have done it years ago but they let the scam continue
We will know next week who is the winner which will probably be Labour, it is Amgela Rayner who will run the Dept of Levelling Up and she will not take such stupidity lightly
The BPA RUBBISH WILL HIT THE LONG GRASS2 -
Assuming Labour win, there won't be a Dept called 'Levelling Up' for very long, surely.
But I sincerely hope the private parking statutory regime stays with Housing & Communities. That is the right place for it.
BTW, by reassuring posters that this IS in hand, I'm not wishing to put anyone off lobbying your local MP to impress on the Secretary of State responsible, that the final draft IA & Public Consultation work to implement the new Statutory Code MUST be pushed through as a priority.

Whatever they decide to call it, who knows, what we do know is that Housing & Communities was run by ministers who were clueless and we don't want a repeat of that ?
A public consultation .... what a waste of time and money, they already know about this scam industry ... how do they expect to reach millions of motorists ..... they are the public

I certainly hope that laws are enacted for this, as in my opinion it is the biggest nation-wide scam in operation in our country.

Consultations are usually published online for up to 12 weeks, and may allow snail mail and digital responses which are then analysed
Sometimes consultations get preceded by a "call for evidence" where the area is wide ranging, and/or the views or evidence is unclear. This then informs the scope of the following consultation. Call for evidence exercises may also last for up to 12 weeks.
Government responses to both consultations and call for evidence exercises are also required to be published, and a summary of the responses received is included in the explanatory documents that accompany legislation - this would be something like
"A 12 week public consultation was held between X date and Y date. XX responses were received, of which Y responses supported the proposals.... Key points made in the consultation include [insert key points]"3 -

The two ATA's promoted the scam especially with debt collection
We have Coupon-mad who is our own Alan Bates and nobody is going to rest until the code of practice is law which by the way it is.
The BPA / IPC new code is just cloud dreaming and a very feeble attempt to beat government

The BPA / IPC new code is just cloud dreaming and a very feeble attempt to beat governmentI wrote to my local Counciller and my MP regarding this and they both responded that they weren't interested in getting involved. The Counciller knocked on my door last week canvassing for the GE and I told him why I didn't vote for him and won't be voting for his MP candidate. The Counciller lost his seat in the recent elections and I'm hoping that my MP does similar this week: I can't vote for someone as my representative when they've refused to represent me.
