ALONG WITH 4 OTHERS, I WAS BOOKED ON A HOLIDAY CRUISE , BOOKED WITH CRUISE FIRST, TO GO TO MIAMI FROM NEWCASTLE AIRPORT,VIA HEATHROW FLIGHT SUPPLIER, BRITISH AIRWAYS, 1325 BA.ON 10/5/2024.

THE FLIGHT WAS ONE HOUR DELAYED FROM NEWCASTLE, WHICH MEANT WE MISSED OUR ORIGINAL CONNECTING FLIGHT FROM HEATHROW TO MIAMI,AND ANOTHER DELAY IN THERE NOT BEING AN AIRBRIDGE AVAILABLE ON OUR ARRIVAL AT HEATHROW AIRPORT, MEANING WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION 2 HOURS LATE.

WE ENJOYED THE CRUISE PART OF OUIR HOLIDAY, AND ARRIVED AT MIAMI AIRPORT ON 18/6/24 TO CATCH OUR FLIGHT HOME.

THE PLANE DEPARTED 1 HOUR 35 MINS LATE DUE TO TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. ?

ABOUT 3 HOURS 30 MINS, THERE WAS A  STRONG SMELL OF SMOKE INSIDE THE PLANE, AND THE PILOT HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN NEWFOUINDLAND.

WE WERE ORIGINALLY INFORMED THAT A REPLACEMENT PLANE WOULD BE COMING FROM JFK AIRPORT TO CONTINUE OUR ONWARD JOURNEY TO LONDON HEATHROW.

THE PLANE ARRIVED FROM JFK AFTER A 14 HOUR DELAY, BUT NOT TO TAKE US TO HEATHROW, BUT BACK TO JFK, WERE WE ARRIVED AT 12-30 AM,STAYED IN THE HILTON LONG ISLAND HOTEL, AND WE HAD TO LEAVE THE HOTEL TO BE BACK AT THE AIRPORT AT 05-30 AM

THAT AFTERNOON, 19/5/2024, WE DEPARTED JFK, FLIGHT AA142, ARRIVING AT HEATHROW AT 11-30 PM, MEANING WE MISSED OUR FLIGHT TO NEWCASTLE, AND HAD TO STAY IN THE RADISSON BLUE HOTEL OVERNIGHT.

ON THE 20/5/2024, WE LEFT HEATHROW AT 15-20 PM ON FLIGHT NUMBER BA 1334, ARRIVING BACK AT NEWCASTLE AT 16-15 PM, INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL TIME OF 13-05 ON THE 18TH JUNE, 2024.

I WOULD LIKE TO CLAIM COMPENSATION FOR ALL THESE DELAYS, WHICH WAS NOT DUE TO ANY FAULTS OF OUR OWN, BUT ENTIRELY BRITISH AIRWAYS AND UNITED AIRLINES,

AS WELL AS THE 2 DAY, 3 HOURS DELAY, IT COST US 300 DOLLARS IN TAXIS FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTELS, AND RETURNS, ADDITIONAL FOOD WE HAD TO BUY DUE TO THERE NOT BEING ANY REPRESENTATIVES AVAILABLE.

IN ALL A WONDERFUL CRUISE HOLIDAY RUINED BY INCOMPETENT STAFF,ie NOBODY TO ASSIST AT JFK AIRPORT, AND HEATHROW ON OUR ARRIVAL,  A FIRE ON THE PLANE FROM JFK TO NEWFOUNDLAND, WHEN THERE WAS A DELAY DUE TO TECHNICAL PROBLEMS, AND A 2 DAY DELAY IN GETTING OUR LUGGAGE RETURNED.

ASK ME NOW IF I WOULD ARRANGE A HOLIDAY INVOLVING BRITISH AIRWAYS AND UNITED AIRLINES, AND I PRESUME YOU KNOW THE ANSWER WOULD BE NO,NO,NO, AFTER READING THIS COMPLAINT..

Any advice would be much appreciated as I have tried complaining through the travel agent (Cruise1st), BA and AA. Not one company is willing to offer compensation of any kind.
Sorry for the capitals I wrote this on my mobile.

So your holiday was ruined at the very end? - Seems a bit dramatic to me.

I would suspect your first port of call would be the travel agents -

what did they say when you tried to claim compensation?
what amount did you ask for?
Was the return leg of your journey scheduled to be a BA flight or AA?

The law that covers this is known as EU261

Have a look at the following to start with

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/holiday-cancellations-and-compensation/if-your-flights-delayed-or-cancelled/

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/airport-rights/

The Travel Board is more appropriate for your post then the Budgeting and Bank account one so I have asked for the post to be moved

Finally, did you have travel insurance?

The post being in all caps makes it difficult to read easily
Outbound journey appears to have resulted in a delayed arrival in Miami of 2 hours meaning there is no compensation due.

Whether any airline compensation is possibly due for the return leg will depend on which carrier you were originally booked with for the MIA - LHR flight. You mention BA, American Airlines and United Airlines in your post...(I am assuming United Airlines is an error in your post)

This is the Budgeting and Bank Accounts Board so would be better posting here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/flight-delay-compensation

Unfortunately many people under estimate the number of things that can go wrong / unexpected delays that crop up when travelling internationally.  Lack of an airbridge / available gate to disembark is nothing to with airlines. That's an airport operational issue.  Something which is frequent occurence in the major hubs. Not least when unscheduled flights have to be factored in.

I'd also assume that the "United Airlines" reference was an error.
BA and AA are both part of One World Alliance so code share on some flights.

There are two issue compensation & expenses
The monies you have spent on taxis etc. you need to claim back as expenses, if you use the word compensation for these it will be refused.
