Back again.
Hope you dont get too affected by the gales Aussie. We seemed to have had high winds and torrential rain in the night but DD & I slept through it no problem. Still a bit windy now which is good as it has dried everything up, the sun is also shining at the moment.
Feeling very motivated at the moment but am now working in the office for an hour so that may wane. Have taken car to car wash - it was black - not os I know but I couldnt bear it anymore & I just dont do washing cars. Have cleaned the windows inside and out myself though, always feels nicer driving a clean car.
Have also done 2 loads of washing, cleaned kitchen thoroughly and cleaned all bathrooms and toilets, had general tidy up and as OH took the decorations down yesterday everywhere is looking nice.
Just need to do some admin work then will be ironing, I will definately clear the pile then will be able to sit down and relax this evening. Have decided upon pork and apple sausages with chips for tea tonight, might pop out again later and get some mushrooms to go with it.
Nelski - hope you survive the bargain hunters - dont envy you.0 -

I've had a clearout in the kitchen, as I was getting my Mothers best dinner service out to use at Christmas I decided it was a waste saving it for best as she always had. So I've freecycled loads of crockery & will use her set for everyday from now on.
I'm off to have a look at the 'Living on £4000 thread'
Have a good day one & all.
Hugs Hester
Hester, I made the same decision a couple of years ago, I had antique crystal on the dresser that I never used. So 2 years ago I decided that it was going to be used every day and if it got broke, so what!!!!! So far only 1 glass a champagne flute has been broken and yes, wine does taste better out of a crystal glass............I also use the 'best' cutlery and plates.....why keep them in a cupboard when you can have the pleasure of using them every day???????????? In my case I know that when I had shuffled off this mortal coil my DD's would keep it in a display cabinet 'because thats what Mum did' and after all it was made to be used. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
afternoon all - having a lovely home-alone day. dd18 called to see if I wanted to go into town - checked bank acount and my pay has gone in a couple of days early. Think the temptation might be too much so have declined. i will go and do a tesco shop a bit later depending on when dd11 is coming back from her dad's.
getting a bit worried about saturday's flights to Holland - hope we wont be affected by the strikes. i think we might just miss it but all the planes will be in the wrong places. I am checking alternatives.
Plans today are to have a bit of a house blitz, have a mooch in the freezer for next week's meal plans, have a tidy of the garden and then chill with some baileys and knitting.
have a good day all

Hello all!
Hardly had time to get on here too, it's just such a very busy time isn't it? I've not been near a shop or sale or anything either, just busy with family and friends, which is the best kind of busy:D
Aussie, everything crossed that the weather by-passes you, and you emerge unscathed. We really need a crossed fingers smiley!!!! I hate windy weather more than just about anything, it can be so destructive. Now Lily O'Brien chocolates are just [STRIKE]gorgeous[/STRIKE] so horrible, you should step away now. Just parcel them up, send to me and I promise to dispose of them safely:DWhat else are friends for, if not to help each other out:rotfl: :rotfl:
What time I have had for myself has been spent on a lovely snowman wall hanging I meant to do as a Christmas decoration.:o Well I only got it in September, in Canada, so it's not been that long:o I must sort out my thimbles because now I have sore, pricked fingers, but it is coming along nicely. I'm doing it by hand, although you could have done it by machine, but that's the pleasure for me, rather than just the finished article.
Must get off, if I'm to allow myself a little surf around.
((((((hugs))))))) to the sick or sad.

Afternoon folks,
Been at work since 8 this morning, working again tomorrow as well.
Just done the washing up in the time it took to boil the kettle! (OH did leave me a note saying he would do it later but I thought I would try my theory and it worked :j)
This afternoon, I will do the ironing if nothing else. I would like to sit down with OH and work out our budget this evening (hopefully he will be in a suitable mood), and possibly write my thankyou cards.
Our decs will probably come down on Wednesay (of sometime around then when I am not working)We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi!
Thanks dlb for your pm! Got to keep away from any more online sales as I'd like to slash our living budget next year as well.;)
I'm supposed to be at MIL's with DH and the girls but I didn't feel too good this morning, think I'm just a bit run down, so I couldn't face going. DH and the kids have gone, but he wasn't in the best mood when he left so I'm hoping he doesn't have a row with her. I usually manage to keep the peace when I'm over there but...
Anyway the wm and td are on for the 3rd time and I've managed to do the ironing and tonight's tea is spag bol from the freezer so I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day.
Have a good evening!0 -

Afternoon everyone
Well after the madness of Christmas, I am now up to my eyes in washing and ironing piles whilst starting to pack for our hols :j We don't fly out to Hawaii till the 2nd, but we got a fantastic deal for an overnight stay and 15 days parking at Heathrow for only £69 - so we're leaving New Year's Day.
The house is a wreck, and I cahn't bear to come home to that so a busy night and all day tomorrow should see it done. Unfortunately I have to go into work on New Year's Eve, but haven't been in since Christmas Eve - so can't complain.
Next year I really want to get our finances into better shape - but what an expensive start to the year already
Anyway must dash - take care and (((((hugs))))) all round to everyone.Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -

We are hoping to go to Florida at the begining of 2009, so after we have been to France in April/May it will be a case of every penny does the work of two!!!!!
Have a super time...............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
