  • "Several accounts we list include fixed bonuses in their rates. It’s effectively a year-long minimum rate guarantee ". (MSE's introduction).

    Please note Nottingham Building Society's Bonus Access Saver's 2.44% 'bonus' is variable. It doesn't offer the advantages described by MSE of a fixed rate bonus.

    It feels like bit of a marketing swizz by Nottingham BS. Both elements of the overall interest rate are variable. So in my book it's no different than a straight 4.14% AER variable interest rate.

    It's a decent rate so no doubt it's earned its place as a top account BUT for clarity I think MSE should correct '2.44% bonus' to '2.44% variable bonus'.

    Welcome to the forum. It's always nice when a new member decides to participate in this lively forum.

    However, it's not clear to me why you elected to highlight Nottingham BS in particular, as many of the offerings currently on that page with a bonus have a variable bonus (e.g. Chip, AA, etc)

    Maybe you were just highlighting one example, I don't know.

    Personally, I think you have unfortunately misinterpreted what the article means.

    Several: determiner, pronoun;

    • some; an amount that is not exact but is fewer than many

    I see many of the offerings include a temporary bonus, but only some/several of the offerings have fixed bonuses.

    However, if you disagree with my interpretation then:

    I just received an email from Teachers Building Society to let me know that from 10th March 2026, the interest rate on the Double Access Savings for Teachers account will reduce from 3.90% to 3.75% gross p.a./AER (variable). I don't remember seeing this reduction posted here but apologies if I missed it.

    Cahoot Simple Saver (Issue 11) also dropping from 4.40% AER to 4.15% AER from 11th May 2026.

    I don't have Issue 12 (probably did but converted it to a Sunny Day Saver).

    I have Issue 10 which I use as a feeder account for regulars savers. Very happy with the account as it is genuinely instant access. The 4.40% rate has been very good while it lasted. Also good to get almost 3 months notice of the drop.

    Can anyone that has a Vida account that was not funded on the day it was open please confirm if the date funded (as shown in account details) changes to reflect the true date funds were first deposited or remains as the date the account was opened?

    I have just opened one with monthly interest which I plan to fund after 5th March so no interest payments in this tax year as the T&Cs state interest is paid on the day of the month that funds are first deposited however my account indicates account funded date is today despite no funds having been transferred yet and it is making me wonder if interest will now be subsequently paid on 25th of each month.
