cahoot: well worth avoiding
[[ADDENDUM: £25 cashback however through TopCashBack atm well worth it! probably]]
Thought i'd add this from my recent experience in case anyone foolish enough to consider cahoot for savings.
first, they are not part of the Faster Payments service, so you're looking at a couple of days for deposits to show up.
If indeed they show up at all because i got informed of some kind of "problem" after a couple of days. Cannot imagine what that problem would have been. I was just grateful to get my money back a week sooner than I expected.
Second, (and i used to work for them 25 years ago), the website has not been updated in 25 years by the look and feel of it. Which is annoying as the world has moved on a lot since then.
Very much like my experience of opening a "first direct" account, which they're always singing about on here - website not updated in nearly 30 years, clunky, non-user-friendly - and I din't even get a good call centre experience as it is all automated with delays in it nowadays, it seems.
Anyways, my recent user experiences over, maybe it will help someone. probably lost in this thread but hey ho!

My Cahoot SDS experience has had no such issues. Payments in and out have been instant, including weekends and bank holidays.
Lack of an app is my only minor gripe and even that can be worked around using Santander app if really required.

I have no problems too. Money soon shows within a few hours and money usually paid out within one hour. I agree the lack of an app is a frustration. For the SDS it isn't a problem as the money stays the max, but the 4.55% IA would get used more daily if there was an app rather than at present the overflow for every time a regular saver finishes.0 -
I am struggling with Cahoot. I have a Sunny Day saver but so far I have been unsuccessful in opening a Simple Saver. An agent I spoke to yesterday has promised to sort it out, so I am hoping it will be open by Monday.
It seems I had two identities with them. I have now got them to close all the accounts with one identity, and that has happened, but my latest application has still gone to my now closed identity. The agent admitted it was their fault, so maybe I’ll get some compensation for my wasted time and efforts?
i have various accounts with Santander and don’t have any problems with them.0 -
Mmmmm. Not sure this chimes with other users of Cahoot. I have found deposits and withdrawals as being instant. Remember, even with faster payments they always say 'by the end of the next working day' for deposits / withdrawals, although most are speedier. Yes, the website is clunky but easy to use.danthemoneysavingman said:cahoot: well worth avoiding

Cahoot: I love 'em.
I'll do-the-dance with anybody for a good rate on my cash holdings; but Cahoot especially brilliant as an adjunct to St. Ander..
And you can often exploit clunky functionality. DYOR.

I've found Cahoot to be (subjectively) in my Top 2 for speed (the other being Marcus). Payments into/from Cahoot seem almost as instant as you can get. The website could be jazzier ( if that's anyone's thing), but it functions well and the App *cough* Santander *cough* works well. All-in-all, high marks for Cahoot.6 -
I find cahoot spot on, with Santander as my current account transfers either way are instant and it's handy for the Reg Savers each month, as Santander can see the originating funds are from my account.
I'm not interested in apps so that doesn't concern me in the slightest2 -
Apart from a slightly unwieldy logon process, Cahoot are great and transfers both ways are pretty much instant.2

My Cahoot deposits and withdrawals have always been instant and they have some fabulous rates for instant access accounts. I have no complaints about their online banking.
May be as an ex-employee you are on a special watch list?3
