  • Fed up doing the washing hokey cokey and trying to dodge the showers so have put it on the airer in the back porch, hopefully it will dry.

Chicken thighs are marinating in garlic, paprika and chilli, took the skin off and have cooked it in the airfryer for the woofetts to enjoy later on their tea.

Morning, quick catch up and a cuppa before starting the day.

Well i've started shopping for the C word, was browsing on the boots site to get a rough idea for the price of a perfume DD likes to compare at duty free and noticed that they had some gift sets at half price, kynx, dove and some other brands i can't remember, any way 2 sets bought and used points to pay for them. £20 saved from the xmas budget. Will pop into town next week and collect.

£16 had gone into p@ypa1 over night so that has gone into holiday pot for DH big birthday trip.
    Africa pot £3772
    Dh big hols pot £342
(DH is putting any overtime money into hols pot as well, just in case anyone thinks it's just me paying into pots)

DH came home from work with a bag full of apples, need to process those today, apple crumble for pud tonight and the rest will go in the freezer for future crumbles or to have on porridge.

Plans for today are dog walk, make a cottage pie, cheesy leeks, apple crumble, might turn the last squash, tomatoes and whatever other veggies are lurking into a veg lasagne for the freezer. Possible make granola since the oven is on and some kind of sweet treat for this week.

    pwps xx

I really fancy apple crumble. Might add some cookers to the Morrisons order. Then I need to add custard. Yum!

Thanks for the tip on the gift sets, I'll have a look.

    leeks in cheese sauce
    chocolate fudge loaf cake

  • Morning all, wet and cold here and wondering about lighting the woodburner, thermostat says it's 17 degree but it feels so much colder. Sat with a big fleecer jumper on and fluffy socks.

Had a few payments in the last couple of days so money has been shuffled about, some sent to holiday pots, £100 to joint savings and £100 OP to mortgage (8 payments left).
    Africa pot £4025
    Dh big hols pot £467

Meal plan and grocery list started, hoping to eat mostly from the freezer as DD is away until Monday and DH is away for the weekend so just me and the hounds, taken lasagne out of freezer for tea tonight and tomorrow, also taken out a tub of tomato and lentil soup and a freebie lidl sour dough, so that's lunch covered tomorrow and Friday, today DH will have left over baked beans with a poached egg on toast and i will have poached eggs on toast for lunch.
Grocery shop won't be as low as i would like as we need teabags ( i buy the big boxes of yorkshire) and DH needs coffee and only drinks a certain brand which is usually around £8 a jar  :#

Got given another huge bag of cooking apples yesterday so need to process them and try to fit in the freezer somehow, also got given a free handwash at work, my boss got given it by a supplier to test hoping we would place an order but she doesn't like the fragrance, have to say it is quite a strong floral smell but i don't dislike it, anyway for free it will get used as it's only for washing hands.

    Take care xx
  • Grocery shopping has been done and well to say I've overspent would be an understatement, £71 on this weeks groceries between MrS and Mr Al, £25 from the buffer just too many good bargains to ignore in Mr Al, so £96 from the grocery pot, in my head i was only going to spend £50 max. Freezer are back to bursting and i still have a bag of apples to process, might need to go and see if DS has any room in his.
£13 spent in the pet shop which comes from the dog budget and £16 spent from personnel spends £6 on a bottle of wine for tomorrows date night, £6 on a really pretty lace and linen M&S top from one of the charity shops and then in another I got 3 paperbacks for £1, 1 of the books is on my reading list and the other 2 are just reads for on holiday as i will leave them behind for someone else to enjoy. also got a deep white ovenware dish for £3, i'm keeping an eye out for these as I want some smaller ones for when it is just me and dh left at home as most of my ovenware dishes are huge and make enough to feed 8 people so thought it would be good to get a few smaller ones and i can still batch cook but freeze in smaller sizes.

Washing is on but it's teatowels and cleaning cloths. hopefully these will dry quickly on the line before the showers return.

Called into the vets as i was passing to ask about one of the dogs being spade as she has come into season and need to wait a minimum of 3 months before she can be done, which will be January but we will be away for a week and i don't want to leave her having just had surgery so will hopefully get her in for the op in Feb, also want her to have a laparoscopic spay rather than the standard one as recovery is faster and she will be in less pain, as with everything this operation is more expensive than the standard procedure. So another savings pot is needed.

    PWPS xx
