  • I'm back from a digital detox and thanks to the garden producing plenty of food, being away for a few days and having two birthdays and an anniversary celebration where we've eaten out, we've done pretty well in August!

I've put most of the savings into the joint savings fund to even stuff out a bit - I'd prefer to reach the target on both of them at around the same time 😉

  • My final post here for 2024 and I'm taking a year off the boards so won't be back until 2026.

I'm not disappointed about not reaching my target yet - I could have done but decided to use some of the excess cash on other things that were needed so I'm just happy to have gotten as close as I have.

Anyway, happy 2025 and I wish you peace, joy, love and light - tread gently on the earth and treat yourselves with the care and respect that you deserve ❤️

    I'm back! 😁

I've had an interesting 10 months on the digital detox front but decided to come back early as I've missed the boards and I'm somewhat 'off track' on the finance front!! 🙄

It's been a very expensive 10 months - we've had to replace a car, our cooker, our fridge freezer (changed to a large fridge instead), 3 radiators including a towel radiator which is ridiculously expensive 😳 and the jug for my vitamix (also stupidly expensive but I use my vitamix almost daily and the last one was many years old so worth the investment. I've also had a number of events this year and spent a considerable amount on my grandbabies and family for a variety of reasons.

My regular savings have had to stop this month as my dd has had to leave her job and I will be employing her again (she used to clean for me before she got the job and I told her that if she needed to come back if the job didn't work out she could - however, I'll be getting her to do gardening and decorating this time around as I enjoy doing my own cleaning) until she finds something else.

All of this means that I really need to be more frugal if I am to replenish my funds and maintain a level of savings I am comfortable with!!

The DNF is at £1000 now but I won't be adding to that until I get the JSF back up to where I'd like it. I have my usual pots for various irregular bills (annual insurances, car expenses, birthdays, household fuel etc) and add to those monthly so no need to worry about those and I have a slush fund and bulk buy fund which are at a level I'm happy with.

The bank I use has changed their rewards scheme so I don't get a lot from that now as it's only really groceries and petrol it pays out for, so I need to be more creative in filling my savings pot again. It will be a long haul I think!! 🙄🤦‍♀️😂

So, waffle done - now to my target...

I want to increase our Joint Savings Fund (JSF) by £2000 as soon as I can so that's what I'm intending to - I genuinely have no clue how long it will take but every penny I can manage will be a bonus 😁 It needs much more than that to get to where I want to be but the 2k will make it at a level I'm comfortable with...
