I tried this last year for a couple of months and failed.
I have decided to give it another go.
My month will begin January 1st and I aim to spend no more than £250 (for myself, fiance, 2 doggies)
I hope to be able to reduce and reduce until I have gotten it right down.
I haven't been well and whilst I have been off work I have picked up a couple of useful tips from here so hopefully things wil work out better this time roundDream of being mortgage free....

I'm in again
As usual I'm going for £80 to include everything. My challenge runs from the first day to the last day of the month and its still just me to look after on that amount.
Mind I stocked up well in december so hopefully I should have loads of food in so I can use the pennies to bulk buy the wash powders etc this month.
Happy new year to you all and happy challenging

Can I join in on this one please? im 1 adult and 3 children, have 2 full freezers and a full pantry, so should be ok with just topping up. I had a lovely letter from IS saying theyre stopping my money due to an error made by them, so really need to try and cut back on everything
I am calling car finance company to send my car back today, which is a real money pit, my friend is going to give me a run-around until i get myself sorted.
I will set my budget at 200 from now until 31st jan, should be able to manage on much less due to full cupboards, but somehow always buy much more than i need, need to get out of that habit this year.

Hi
Count me in again, 2 adults and two growing boys aged 6 and 8 £50 a week.
Still drawing £50 a week out of BS and having a seperate shopping purse, it`s working well, in the begining I over spent and had to put stuff back!! But find sticking to a list and leaving boys at home helps.
Boys are going on to school diners when they go back in Jan at a cost of £16.50 a week for the 2!! Do people normally included this in grocery money? Bet I spent less than £5 on lunch box stuff. x0 -
Hi, I am new to this site but not new to trying to save money!! Dh and I have realised that we are spending more than we are bringing in so time for drastic action...previous "budget" for everything (not including petrol) was £530+ - (seriously I feel sick - no wonder we're in trouble)
Have decided to drop this to £340. Am also tring the downshift challenge.
Any ideas/advice happily received
P.S there are 2 adults and 2 under 2 (and a dog)
Honey, we were spending £650+ for two adults, two teenagers and a grumpy moggie so don't feel bad.
Welcome to the gang!
