  • Hi, I am new to this site but not new to trying to save money!! Dh and I have realised that we are spending more than we are bringing in so time for drastic action...previous "budget" for everything (not including petrol) was £530+ - (seriously I feel sick - no wonder we're in trouble)
Have decided to drop this to £340. Am also tring the downshift challenge.

    Any ideas/advice happily received

    P.S there are 2 adults and 2 under 2 (and a dog)

  • Hi Lil_me & everyone else!!

My plan was for £350 for January (upto 23rd Jan) - but I've accidently incurred a bank charge (which I'm hoping to phone up & get refunded tomorrow:mad: ) so the balance of my shopping account is only £320 currently - however, I'll try & be positive about getting the refund & state that my challenge amount is £350.

This is for 2 adults & 3 children (one in nappies) and includes all packed lunches, meals, cleaning products, contact lens solutions etc etc

Was not very successful in 2007, but am hoping to do better in 2008!!!!!:D

    Best of luck all!!

I'm in, cutting the shopping budget is 2008's aim, so we'll start with £400 (previous budget which often gets ignored) with an aim to cut over the year :)
No longer using this account for new posts from 2013
  • Count me in. Have never done a challenge on here, infact, I didn't even know they existed. £200 from 28th Dec to 31st Jan. 2 adults and 2 children. My MOT is closer than I thought so I need all the extra cash I can get.

  • I would love to join in the challenge for my 2nd month as it really helped keep me focussed last month :) My month starts on Sunday (will post the result of decembers challenge on the dec thread tomorrow) a 5 week month so will set my budget at £250 (£50 a week) for family of 5.

Everyone in for a totals list again? Just on doing some editing of the last one now, will put it in this post if people want that doing again.

    Cheers,

  • Hi! This is my first grocery challenge, and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure how much we would usually spend in a month. I would estimate it to be about £500+!

We are 2 adults and three children (all boys 9, 10 and 13 - who eat like hungry adults!!)

I really want to be successful at this, so I don't want to set my targets too low and get fed up half way through the month.:(

I think I will aim for £100 per week for this month and see just how much I can save. Maybe I'll surprise myself and come way under budget! I will have a better idea in February, and will be able to adjust Feb's target accordingly.

Please add me to the list Lil_me!

    Good luck everyone! :D
