BlushingRose - I usually buy Desiree potatoes by the sack, but this year they're nowhere near as good as normal - cant use them for jackets (too many black patches under the skin) and they are a bit watery and not much taste. I think its because of the growing conditions, so much bad weather last year. All potatoes are maybe the same this year? ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Had to buy some more milk today, but fairly sure that's us for the month and we are currently 57p under budget!!! I'll post our final figure on Thursday evening. Really pleased with how we've done, but I know it'll get harder as we've got less food in to start with, but the challenge will be good. Off to post February's budget. Great to read everyone's totals. Everyone seems to be doing well, and even if you've gone over, everyone has reduced their spend from what they used to, so well done everyone:T

I am taking notice of the final spends, it'll just be easier for me to add them all at once, so just keep posting and I will do them once everyones finished.

Final spend for this month is £168.52!! A little bit over budget, but not too bad for my first try, so not going to worry too much.

Did a bare minimum spend at the weekend to top up on essentials and have managed to keep OH out of Mr T's as well. Provided we stay out until friday we will have met our first grocery challenge :T
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • rosieben and tattycath :D thanks for that. i was half joking and half not when i posted that, and thought i was going to get a slating, but pleased i didn't.

the thing that makes me laugh is i barely even eat chicken anyway, it's about my least favourite meat. decided to try it out cuz of the OS and all the rubber chicken bit, and then saw the price!

think i might just hang on for offers with that one. i'm in no massive hurry but we'll see. i'm investigating the potential for getting more organic etc stuff into the shopping, but at as low a cost as i can (cheap cuts and stuff) but it's incredibly difficult. especially as there aren't farm shops where i live really, certainly not meat ones, and the only one there is is in windsor, and well you can imagine the prices there...

anyway. i totally respect those that are going this way with the free range and all that, and OS is largely about being more careful about what you use and what you put in your body. BUT the thing i like about these boards is the commitment to non-judgement. it's not true of the whole forum, which is why i tend to stick to the DFW and OS side of things (i stopped posting on the student boards for instance as the "get a job" mob put me into a blind rage half the time).

right. that was a right rant. i'm yelling at people on the phone today as well, obviously not got up on the right side of bed today...
Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:
