Just called in at Mr T as had been into town to transfer mortgage money. Put a weekly amount into a savings account then move it the day before mortgage due.
Tesco had haggis on promotion from £1.38 to £0.98 ending today(burn's night special) anyway true to form there weren't any left; however the assistant I spoke to told me to go to CS and ask for a "Promotion Promise Voucher", I picked up the other bits I needed, mainly flour for baking, Utterly Butterly 500g promotion 61p and headed off.
At CS asked for this voucher and was asked how many I wanted it for and it is now good for whenever I'm next in and they have sufficient stock for me to purchase.
Safeway used to do this, but I didn't know that Tesco did will ask next time I'm in Sainsburys as well.
I had planned on buying at least 6 as we use 2 of these per meal, and that would see us thru to the warmer weather (she hopes).
SOOOOOO basically if any of the supermarkets have a promotion and no stock ask for a Promotion Promise Voucher, then you still get the savings even after the promotion is ended. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Did the dreaded deed and visited Mr T last night, not much by the way of bargains but picked up a couple of quarter chickens for 50p each. I dont know if thats good but i did one in the oven last night and have made two salad boxes for work and have enough left for an attempt at chicken fried rice for tea. (Edited to add ... mustn't forget to make a soup stock from what left! the last one was lovely.)
Anyway, including some undies for me and DS it still came in at 47.52 so i guess im just under and had better declare that it for January! I didnt like shopping before but this challenge is making me very reluctant to set foot in the supermarkets!!! lol I'm sure my bank balance really appreciates it!
Budget £250 spent £243.650 -
I am taking notice of the final spends, it'll just be easier for me to add them all at once, so just keep posting and I will do them once everyones finished. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200

This is really useful, thanks. I don't know how many times I've gone into a shop specifically cos of a special offer and then it's all sold out :mad:0 -

just seen the price of a free range chicken
you people are going to destroy my budget with all these morals.Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0 -
Another £4 spend for me today on bread, milk and cat food essentials. I have just £1.02 left of my food budget and about £4.50 for non-food so if nothing else arises between now and Thu I will probably max out the budget on nappies or washing powder to get a headstart for Febs budget.
Off to read back.0 -
I didnt know if i would manage not to spend any more in this months challenge but I have and i wont now spend anymore until 1st February when i will stock up again.
Please take my final figure £120.86 for January.
£150. budget for February.0 -
Not a lot to say really. Went to local convenience store for bread. They had a BOGOF on Lucozade, so got a couple of bottles, also some beer (medicinal purposes as well
)
JACKS - is that avartar of yours a tiger, a cat or you dressed to kill :rotfl:? Oo'er, standby for a slap.
*flexes slapping hand*
I think someone's avatar should be a cheeky blimmin' monkey, and not a cute green frog!
There's not nearly enough room in that tiny avatar space to do me justice in "dressed to kill" mode Mike. (Although some people have suggested that my gob is of similar proportions to the one in the pic!)
The photo is of my grumpy old prawn addict cat Mulder - pretending to be a tiger. (Oh Ok, he's yawning!)
How 're you doing honey. Is your DW back to full duties yet or are you still the head of the domestic staff?
