hi everyone,
i managed to only spend £3.50 today, just on a few bits for tonights dinner and 2 bananas at lunch time. I thought i would try out the pasta maker my dad got me for xmas. to begin with we were going to have spag bol for dinner, bit the pasta got a little fiddly. so we ended up having lasange!
i think i need a bit more practice with the pasta maker.

NSD today. Didn't think I was addicted to shops, but starting to miss them now! We've now done our menu plan for the next 2 weeks, and apart from milk and lunch box stuff we don't need to buy any food for meals, so still hopeful for our budget. If it looks like we will make it, we'll stock up on meat to help us out in Feb as this month we've had a freezer full of food so Feb will be tough:eek: Everyone is doing well, and its great to read all the tips. Think I might try a late night supermarket trip one night next week. Thanks0

Evening everyone
Meanmarie.... I think you are truely wonderful-and you are right it would be nice to think that if ever you or yours were in need ,someone would do the same for you :T . Hopefully your influence will rub off on her and your kindness will give her the boost and strength she needs to make a good life for her and her little one !
Anyway back to the thread
I made a pasta bake for dinner tonight using all the opened bits in the fridge and freezer:-
1/2 box passata
some salami, an onion, broccoli - peppers-mushrooms and peas (from the freezer) some sweetcorn, cream cheese with horseraddish(makes a lovely creamy sauce) ..cooked some pasta mixed it in and put it in the oven for a few mins -
It was stunning, and less than 15 mins from starting to sitting down to eat :T
So that has cleared out some odds n sods for me -and hubby has requested it again, and as i have enough salami for at least another 2... i think he can have it
Well i hope everyone is doing well...keep at it folks-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Have had a good week this week i think will add up all receipts tomorrow and update sig.
Good news is I have not been to the bank since i took the housing keeping last sat so should be with in target, wont know for sure until i check other half hasnt been using his card. He normally only buys petrol with it but occassionally (not to often i would kill him) has a blind moment and buys something stupid.0 -
Good evening. Thought I might have a nsd today!!! wrong!!! eldest DD decided she would like some ice cream, maple syrup and pancakes. So I went to asda. Could not find maple syrup for love nor money. So I asked assistant to be told 'I think you mean golden syrup' So I said 'no I definitely mean maple, it's a dessert syrup' He said, well if it's not with golden syrup we don't sell it!!! So I trekked round the store dragging my poor OH with me until I decided to give up on the idea. I went to get some icecream... and the maple syrup was there in a corner in a totally different part of the shop!!! To say I was b....y annoyed is an understatement. I ended up spending over a tenner but handed in 2.49 in vouchers. and some of the stuff I bought was reduced-I got the call of the cream cakes again!!! I think if I'm not careful I will have to hunt out the diet thread!¬!!
Sorry, I'm waffling again.

Well, last night's HM bread was a huge improvement - it's nearly all gone
Was so impressed I made some dough in the BM and had HM pizza :T . That's a first and it was very tasty.
No spend today so feeling pleased with myself0 -
today i had some bread in the breadbin that was no good for sandwiches but not 'off' iykwim so i diced it and made a load of croutons to freeze ready for soups. Theres 6 of us and i managed to get 4 big bags of them ready to take out of the freezer individually (would have been more but as i was waiting for them to cool all 4 sons kept running in the kitchen and pinching them off the trays!) :rotfl: I also made a batch of tomato and onion soup from the onions in the freezer and some reduced cherry tomatoes, all in all cost me about 60p for a big pan of delicious soup!!
I have to say since i started this challenge im looking at food in a whole different light - i always enjoyed cooking but now i love creating new things and trying to work out what can go with what in a new way that i havent done before.....what can be frozen and im actually enjoying the bargain hunting aspect of it too, i use to walk past the aisles with the reduced stickers - not any more!!Win £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012
