4.25m and no I wouldn’t.  For that price I wouldn’t want immediate neighbours even if they threw in the purplely pink pool table.  (But it does have an indoor swimming pool which id love to have!)

£12 million - I drive past it on my way to work (won't give the location away - NOT London - but work is in west London) and I would not buy it - it's stunning, but not for me!

In the landing photo below, I can peek through those first floor windows from my car - £12 million to live on a rather busy commuter road is a bit too much compromise.

It is also very much a family house and as a single person, it'd be a bit much! But if I had a family (and the money), life in this area would be absolutely ideal. Quintessential southern England rich life.

What is the glass thing on the front of the house?

£4m, but no. Previously used as a school - 56 bedrooms is a bit excessive for my needs.

Don't know and couldn't care less. What would be the point? I know we live in a place with low crime, good schooling and pretty scenery, but there are down-sides too, which serve to keep most riff-raff out.
It's no accident we live where we do, but looking way above our budget was never an interest, or helpful. I know from living in a very exclusive area, it doesn't feel great being the poor relation, which is probably what most respondents to this thread would be. Mental comfort is the best kind to find, and it's not provided by more, or more complex, 'things.'

Interesting thread - £1.5 million, 23 acres and indoor swimming pool but weird layout - only 3 beds and 1 bath but 2 living rooms, 2 conservatories and way too much wood panelling. I'd buy it if I had the money to do some work including adding two beds and another bathroom.

Living in central London 5 miles covers all the centre and so most expensive on Right Move is £45m

Looking at a few agents that dont list on Right Move though, $221m for a 5 bed flat

I suppose I could rough it but would want to make a few changes

It probably depends where you are in the country though.... here 'Up North' (in an undisclosed location!) the most expensive is 1.2 million, then the next is 1 million. The next 42 pages of right move are all below the million mark.

The top two are nice, but not sure if they would be 'homely'.

8 million - on the quiet eastern side of Windermere lake (a completely different feel from the busy western side), with private lakeshore access including boathouse and jetties - very secluded with no immediate neighbours, and surrounded by lovely gardens and woodland, and a bespoke elevated log cabin in the grounds that they're calling a 'treehouse' - yes, I'd take that!

Being picky, though, a lot of the decor in the house isn't to my taste, so I'd need extra money upfront to get that changed, as well as ongoing extra money for the increased outgoings and to employ a gardener, etc :D
