@grizebeck glad I made you laugh, but I was just trying to do the right thing. People offering all the advice to try and stop someone paying a ticket that is issued perfectly legitimately is just wrong. The poor lad is going to end up with a CCJ and severely out of pocket, when he could just do the right thing and pay it. I expect no one will believe me but I'm just trying to offer honest advice having worked in the industry.
    Nobody gets a CCJ here.

"Doing the right thing" is not to pay a scammer, can we agree on that?

Why do you think the Government labelled what PPCs do as "extorting money from motorists" and why do you think the rogue industry is being regulated?

It's not because PPC World's conduct is fair and open.

Which PPC did you work for? Genuinely fascinated: what makes you think they were different?

The above raises a good question, how was your company different from all the others
what made them stand out, as in work ethic and business model.

"Other companies in the sector work on a revenue-generating model that focuses on parking charges and penalties for infringements. But, Stuart said, as this is designed to take advantage of the customer, rather than support them, it can create negative feelings about the location used for parking and the venues they support.

Wise Parking’s team of ten employees working at its head office in Daventry’s Icon innovation Centre sift through potential parking infringements at the 50-plus sites managed on behalf of its clients before issuing the dreaded parking charge notice. The reason: people make mistakes, and they often do not mean to, said Stuart."

Complete and utter codswallop from Stuart Wise, based on the cases we've seen re PCNs issued unfairly at a hospital by 'Wise' Parking. Appalling company IMHO.

"I was just trying to do the right thing" "offer honest advice"

@ParkingExpert it's such a pity YOU didn't do the right thing by rechecking your facts after the accuracy of your two posts were challenged and blasted as untrue by other forum members. So typical and representative of the industry.

To prevent further embarrassment go check out private parking info on gov.uk website. Learn why/how Govt had to intervene to address the industry's "market failure". The need to bring in independent services to assess/monitor BPA IPC meet the required standards for accreditation, to instruct AOS compliance teams how to assess PPC's code compliance and monitor AOS teams ability to carry out this task. Replace self-regulation with a regulatory and scrutiny board and BPA/IPC appeal services with a fair unbiased one. You can read all about it in the 91page DLUHC draft Impact Assessment... the one the private parking industry demanded.

And since you claim PCNs are legitimately  issued maybe you could offer a sensible explanation why some PPCs who reject appeals saying the PCN was correctly issued then don't contest them at POPLA. An astounding 20,000 (yearly average apart from COVID yrs) appeals are not contested by PPCs according to POPLA's Lead Adjudicator annual reports.

  • Currently experiencing problems with Vars Technology.
In mid August after a few days in the Lake District  we decided to top up our car with diesel before heading home.
My husband put the diesel  in and I went into the station to pay, the cashier  glanced out of the window, informed me I owed £50.96 which I duly paid on my debit card.
Three weeks ago I received a letter from Vars T - headline ‘Drive Off’ Informing me that we had failed to pay £8.56 for fuel and there was £30 admin fee , this all to be paid within 14 days or admin fee would be doubled.
i have repeatedly emailed the company( you cannot make contact by phone) I have sent a copy of the bank statement which clearly shows date/ time / amount paid , on one occasion it took five days to respond and acknowledge  receipt of payment,. I have tried going through their complaints depart, ent but to no avail.
Have explained that this is clearly an error on the part of the cashier but they will not accept this despite the bank statement clearly showing payment.
Of course the whole time the threat of doubling the payment has been hanging over us and  it has made my husband so stressed , we are pensioners( not Bonny and Clyde) I reluctantly paid it last Friday when the 14 days were up.
Have tried desperately to get some sort of acknowledgement that this was an error but they just say , the payment shown was not for the full amount of fuel taken.
i explained that we have no control over how much is paid , the cashier states amount and keys into card machine, we paid full amount as requested and now treated as criminals.
Vars Technology have numerous complaints against their  tactics but it does not appear that it has any effect.
Any suggestions as to how I might reclaim our money would be so gratefully received.

You cannot now get your money back.  I have no idea why people pay just because what look like debt demands arrive.

You could try raising this with your MP.
