Hi all
CoG they are DD’s dietitians…that’s the department (and role) she’s in. I actually don’t like banana cake if it’s got chocolate chips in (no idea why, i’m baffled because i do love chocolate). Now that DS isn’t home surplus baking gets taken to work…i’ve done it for years…baked for pleasure and taken to the Refinery before I had the Vallikids, then into school, and now the hospital. DD does it too. I had a colleague at school who adored banana loaf with chocolate chips, so it was always a pleasure to take it in for her reaction.
Round…glad there has been progress.
Wordle…got it in 2!
CoG hope you find the cup. What’s the pattern? I replaced a crystal champagne flute the same way.
ASB - love the idea of a car boot shopping list! And am much intrigued as to what might be on it!
WM and DW x 1. Hoping the biscoff spread has come off the whisks etc…
Washing on the line and i’m now doing my vertical half hour. I have a covid booster at 9:55. I wanted 10 so did well to get that one! Rain due later.
Hope you all have a super Friday.

Another sunny day here, and we missed the frost (we were borderline according to the BBC weather forecast) so the blossom lives on
L the dog walker is coming for Rosie this morning, so I am off to do a big shop including food and some clothes. My 15yo fleece has finally had it, and I live in hope of needing some summer tops and trousers, so I shall venture into Merry Hell. The house was tidied, dusted and hoovered all through yesterday, and the washing is up to date for now, so I can ignore those jobs today.
I have already
- washed out the kitchen compost bin which I had emptied yesterday evening
- had a conversation with DS1 (on his way to work) about a file of old paperwork relating to my mother's family which he found in his dad's loft
- S&S'd the kitchen after breakfast
- started the DW
- written a shopping list
- PUPA in the LR
- checked finances
- tried to book my C jab, but the NHS website is not yet showing our local pharmacy where we intend to get it done (apparently its due to come online some time today)
- arranged a day out with DH next Wednesday at an open garden with a railway, where Rosie is also welcome.
Still to do:
- mop the kitchen, DR and hallway floors
- shop
- pot up some winter jasmine plants for DS2 (I've got plenty, if anybody wants one - just PM me - they will survive being sent by post)
- dig out dandelions from the borders
- remove my Easter garden-inna-pot from the front step
- plant out Christmas roses in that pot, which is a lovely pale turquoise and will set off the white flowers and dark green foliage beautifully
- sweep the back yard
- HHI this evening
That's quite enough for a Friday! Hope everyone has a good one xxx7 -

Some of these are NEVER flying.. we were discussing that earlier.. at least 4 will be here forever! And that is without them bringing home additional people.. which mine seem to do.. normal children bring home kittens or puppies or injured birds or a tub of snails.. I get people! lol
I have actually done 2 years of counsellor training 30 years ago.. I didn't do the third because the tutor said I 'might be better looking at a different path' ... one of the scenarios was this role play thing with a script and the other person gave this long tale about their abusive family, toxic friends, debt, a broken car and to top it off said 'and then my dog died' ... and I was helpless, absolute hysterical laughter.. you know the kind where you can't breathe and every sound or word makes it funnier.. utter insanity.. I finished that module and didn't go back for the third.. Then I decided no one has the right to choose for me and if they were a decent tutor they would have worked around my hysteria. .. it was the scenario sounded like a country song, it just needed a guitar.Nails sorted
2x WM
3 loads of laundry put away
DW donerecycling out
Some holiday stuff thrown in the case for August! We will not need the case or the items before then so they are now out of the wyOH just picking up from school and taking DD1 and her 4 home then bringing our 2 home.. 8 seater car so I get to stay at home!
I have printed Squeak some work for next week when she no doubt finds at least a couple of days to not go to school.. I have some history, DT (making a Snoof (Puppet)) and we hav our usual maths/english/science work, duolingo German and OH can drag her into the garden to help out there if she gets bored.

@Valli - I've never had banana loaf (with or without chocolate). Would you mind sharing your recipe please and I'll give it a go as, like you, I love baking. The cup I'm looking for is a Spode Blue Italian design breakfast cup (I don't need the saucer but not bothered if it comes with one). That pattern has been been in production since 1816 so there is plenty around but the cups are mainly the tea cups, which are smaller. The breakfast cups are 3 inches (7.5 cm) high and 4 inches (10.5 cm) in diameter at the rim. The replacement glass arrived today (very quick) and is exactly the same as the one I broke and looks like new, so I'm very pleased with it.Piggers, I'm confused about your family - it features a lot of people and you seem to have young children but also grandchildren. Maybe you could post a family tree.
Anyay, I feel as ifI'm living two peoples' lives but you seem to be living about a dozen! I really don't know how you do it.
Around midnight last night A woke and looked at his eyes in the mirror and one was very red (bloody) in the corner of the white part of his eye. His face was also very red and the skin flaky (The skin problem is a recurrent one but not the blood in his eye.). I did a quick internet search which suggested that the blood wasn't likely to be anything serious but he as worried and talking about going to the eye hospital A&E the next day. Eventually we got back to bed and at 8 o'clock he rang the eye hospital but couldn't get through so rang the GP and booked a phone consultation. The GP rang at just after 10.30 and there was a long, tortuous conversation where she tried to understand the problem, his relevant medical history, the eye and skin meds he's on/had been on etc. Eventually she prescribed a two month course of the antibiotics that the eye hospital had previously prescribed - goodness knows why. They were prescribed not for their antibiotic properties but because they increase the flow of tears. She told him to continue with his creams for the skin problem. She asked hm to make an appointment for a face-to-face appointment in a month to review. I then went out and collected the prescription, bought the paper and came back in time to make lunch. Needless to say there was no flying done as this took up the whole morning. When I got back I made lunch, WUPA the breakfast and lunch things went out and filled up the car and bought a National Geographic to send to my friend's 90 year old father and some chocolate for A, who was disappointed that I didn't get any this morning (I did buy him a brownie!) and went to the wine shop for the weekend wine. When I got back I made tea and washed up and now it's time to prepare supper.Sorry it's such a long and boring update.8 -
CoG - never too long and always interesting. Never apologise!
Now as for me, I am a broken record…little flying beyond the basics - wm run, washing not drying ( I have had to scrape the car twice this week by way of explanation), dinner seems to have managed to follow the meal plan, kitchen is tidy, I have got myself to work, survived the days and made it home.DH is out this evening for a couple of hours, so I am Queen of the Remote (yes, Round, before you ask, it is a window of exercise opportunity, but the sofa is sooooo comfortable…). We have a weekend of socialising, which some of you may know is not my favourite activity.
Finally Fri-yay. And sighhhhhhh of relief.8 -
CoG i will post the recipe but am feeling bleurgh right now, i’ll do it tomorrow. i bake it in a loaf tin and use liners, which make it SOmuch easier. Washing line dried.

Thank you Honey Bear7 -
Finally a sunny day after a cold week, so I hung yesterday's wetsuit outside in the hope it will be ok for tomorrow although I do have a spare.
- one load washing done
- one load through DW
- BodyStep done
- finished trimming the winter honeysuckle so we can both see and get in the front door
- other various bits of gardening done
- en suite given a fairly good clean
- bedroom decluttered of clothes lying about the place
-actually put some effort into dinner this evening: vege lasagne then rhubarb (from garden) and strawberry crisp.
I might write a few more sentences of the difficult assessment, must prepare for Monday's meeting about it. I think I need to dig out the projector thingy so my manager can see the paperwork on my desk and realise just how weak the student was.
Happy weekend everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

Blaming unwellness on Covid boisterThanks Fayolle. Thanks Valli - no rush. I have two sizes of loaf tin (1 lb and 2 lb?) but no liners I don't think, only parchment circles for round tins, which I always use. I can get the loaf tin ones though if I don't have any. You're the second person I know who has felt unwell following the booster. We're having ours soon so I hope I don't have a repeat of the shingles vaccination reaction; probably not.Supper made and everything WUPA and A's breakfast things put out. He has decided to go back to having his eye meds so we're back on that routine. 2/3 given so I can go to bed soon. I need to be up early to get to the bakery before the cheese straws sell out, because it'd the weekend, and the weekend means.......cheese straws.8
