Morning all
Glad you’re improving, Round, sensible to take another day.
Fayolle hope things improve for you.
CoG … my friend D got a covid invitation too. I assume I will too, at some point.
Washload done and on the line before I started my vertical half hour as it’s bright and sunny. It’s cold though. Paid stuff today, I also want (need really) to do an hours cleaning, for which I will get paid.

@Goodintentions congrats on your OH doing the marathon. 4:48 is a very respectable time and he should be proud! The marathon is an absolute beast of a distance and so many people underestimate it - myself included; my first was 5 hours 18 minutes and included a fair bit of walking, crying and some errant phone calls to my OH telling me to pick me up at mile 18...
Bathroom fitter is here, the new chap. He seems much more efficient, more friendly and actually sensible so I think things are going well. He's busy putting the bath in at the moment so the water is off and I'm wondering what to do with myself. Therefore, no bathroom flying to be done today.
I go back to work next week and it feels awful on so many levels. Not so much from a childcare POV as little one has been in nursery for a month now (we got him in earlier as we weren't sure when I had to go back) but from an 'everything else and being an adult again' POV. I am majorly stressing out about how to get to work. I won't burden you all with my woes but at present it's looking like I will have to leave my house at 6:45am (before LO wakes up) and get back at gone 5:30pm (we normally eat between 5pm and 5:30pm, LO has a bath at 6pm and is in bed for 7pm). If he's sick and needs picking up early from nursery it'll take me nearly 2 hours to get back to him depending on the time of the call coming in as I'm reliant on buses that run every 40 minutes and drop me 30 minutes drive from my house.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January7 -
KMN.. would a bike be quicker? an electric one maybe ?? I'd not be happy with that either.. it's way too much.. don't forget he has 2 parents and it might be easier for Dad to be first point of contact if LO is unwell if he is nearer? Or have him in a nursery nearer work? I live close to the university so there are loads of nurseries so I (as we do) judge everyone elses circumstances based on our own experience.. I get that you might not have that choice. It must be incredibly stressful. I have been very fortunate and been able to stay home with mine.. which is very fortnate as I am once again home educating it seems.
Squeak got up, got dressed in uniform.. then put her PJs back onschool emailed.Dot dropped off her her table cricket tournament in Leeds..Just sorting work for Squeak.. apartheid and WWII diarists today.. and some maths.. and reading..

Oh, kissmenow - I hope the return to work goes well for you. Any option of finding work closer to home?
ASB - the books were Both of You and Just between Us, both by Adele Parks. Read in that order if you haven't already.
Just work shift done so far today and usual putting dry washing away and making bed.

I've had a little walk into the village and got myself a nice sandwich and a latte which I ate whilst I sat and read my book - I'm currently reading Grapes of Wrath. It has given me a bit of perspective on the whole thing and I am really very lucky to have a healthy toddler, a job to go back to (even if it's not the one I want or left), a car to drive to work in (even if I can't park the !!!!!!) and a stable life in a stable country. There are car parks around the area that I could park in but most of the city is very run down and has huge problems with crime, drugs and car theft/vandalism so I'm reluctant to do that but a work friend has given me the names of two secure car parks within 15 minutes walk which only charge £2 and £3 a day so I will try those in the first instance (one perk of starting early is that I am pretty much guaranteed a space in these as they're attached to offices where the majority of the workforce starts at 9am).
They are building a bike path between our village and the city I work in @pigpen but it won't be completed until 2026 and until then it's 13 miles on very dodgy roads with lots of hills... no ta XD When it's open it's definitely something I would consider, especially as there are events in the city which cause a lot of traffic congestion in summer. Nursery spaces here are akin to hens teeth and the one we have him in is visible from our house so we don't really want to change him to anywhere else.
@Jazee I am half heartedly looking at other options but it is tricky as I am an AHP in a field that no-one really understands so anything outside the NHS looks at my CV/application and raises an eyebrow and there's no other trusts around here that do the work I enjoy or have any experience in. I interviewed and was hopeful for a job in a local (healthcare) charity but unfortunately they want someone with a lot of experience in the charity sector rather than experience in the healthcare field so they have given me some kind feedback but ultimately a rather firm no.
Welllll this little panic was a little redundant as I've returned from my walk to find an email allocating me a permit which I can pick up when I start back. Finally, something is working right! It's incredible how much less stressed I feel now.
Dishwasher sorted, washing out on line. Bath is nearly in and the sun is shining.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January9
