Morning all. It's the weekend here, too!
Glad you're feeling better, CoG. My DH was unfortunate to come out in a shingles rash immediately after he was vaccinated - trust him to be the awkward one! He felt very sorry for himself for a couple of weeks.
Thank you Dot for the cheese scones x I like them for breakfast - or any time, really. I've been asked to make Welsh cakes, to fulfil an order from one of DH's friends, so that's a job for this afternoon. Might go into full-time production eventually. The trouble is that I find it very hard to resist eating them, and they are not good for my waistline: I will have to put today's batch under lock and key (I've never kept any for long enough to try freezing them, but maybe that would work????) as DH is not going to deliver until tomorrow.
My list for today, in no particular order:
- order meds [done]
- WM x2 or 3 and hang out (sunshine and a gentle breeze forecast for the whole day)
- finish sorting filing the papers currently on my desk and the top of the printer
- PUPA upstairs, and make my bed
- S&S bathroom
- clean through downstairs
- walk Rosie
- make Welsh cakes
- write a short letter that requires some forethought (how to make Maths exciting to an Ethiopian child?)
- book a seat at a library event
- sort the paperwork in the filing cabinet and declutter what no longer needs to be kept
Book recommendation - I'm really enjoying the paperback that I picked up at the charity shop last week: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Schaffer and Annie Barrows. It has me laughing and weeping in equal measure. Similar to 84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff in its format (an exchange of letters), but this is about Guernsey during and after WW2, with real, often stomach-churning history plus some characters that could have starred in The Vicar of Dibley7 -
Oh Iona I loved 84 Charing Cross Road. Went to look at the shop many years ago. On my last visit I saw the new building up in its place. With a HUGE number 84 on the glass.
I’m up and showered. Breakfast first then lots of jobs to do.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I've also tipped the two boxes of Trill , that were in the cupboard, into the wild bird seed container. And recycled the boxes.
Coffee now. Then I'm going to make a start on the bathroom. It's very small and it's not totally minging like you sometimes see on telly .... in fact the toilet is probably the cleanest thing in the house! - but it is neglected. So I'll break it down into doable steps.
Step 1: Clean the hand basin, including the pedestal, and put bleach down the plughole.

Good morning (just!)
I have done (walked) the parkrun with DSisIL & had breakfast. Tea has been made in the flask & scruffs have been changed into. I am just waiting for the WM to finish so that I can peg that out, and then I am off to the allotment for an hour or so. I need to see if my new to me playhouse is still there after Monday's wind!! Then I will do some gardening at home I think.
I also need to feed my friend's cat later, and drop off a sack of confidential waste at hers that she will get sorted (old WI accounts going back years). The bag is currently in residence in the summerhouse, so it will be good to get rid of that 👍
Have a lovely weekend all!7 -
Just stepped out to peg out the washing & it's raining! 🤬😭
I will wait 10 minutes & then try again....6 -
Afternoon everyone - thanks for all your good wishes. I had a really good night's sleep. I woke at 9, turned over and went to sleep again and woke again 45 minutes later and got up. I feel back to normal, thank goodness. That was bad luck for your OH Ionafan. As soon as I was dressed I nipped out to the bakery to get a couple of cheese straws and a pain au chocolat for A. They sell out of cheese straws quite early so I had to get down there before I was ready to go out really and I put on yesterday's clothes.
When I came back I had a wash and put on fresh clothes and then A wanted to go to the park so we went to Kensington Gardens and I pushed him around in the wheelchair. It was a bit cool and breezy but when the sun came out from behind the clouds, which did occasionally, it felt better. We had a coffee from one of the kiosks there, so it was a nice little trip out.
On the way back we stopped off at Waitrose (I saw a famous person in there) as I wanted a couple of things for tonight's supper, and some bananas, which I never include in the delivery as I like to choose my own (not too large, not too ripe - I am such a fuss pot, I know). We then called in at the wine shop for some weekend wine and we're now back and it is almost time to heat up a cheese straw and then make lunch - just got to give A his eye drops first.5 -
Step 2: Finish cleaning the bath including the side panel. ✅
Waved him off and brought in the washing. All dry. That wind is cold! FU will PA when I next go upstairs.
Snacky lunch while watching F1 Quali highlights. Alonsoooo 😍
Half an hour's reading then I'll be onto
Step 3: Clean toilet and cistern.

Looong walk done, 10 miles, feels good! Come on CoG, tell us who you saw 😊😊 the only ‘famous’ people I ever see are the Owen family who farm near here and are only famous because of the TV show!
Saturday cava poured and Rylan time. I love Saturday afternoons xx6 -
Step 3: Clean toilet and cistern ✅
I've also washed down the front of the extraction fan box and wiped down the bannister.
Had enough now. But I've actually enjoyed myself.....maybe I'm ill? 🤒
Hope you're all having a good day. Glad to hear you're feeling better today CoG.
Rxx
PS So near my 4000th post. I love numbers. Can't wait for Vincent's mileometer (is that the right word?) to reach 55555. When Pip reached that milestone I stopped and took a photo. I know. I'm special 😉😁IT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme7
