I could try that but she's so self centred that she'll refuse to see that she has done anything wrong. Over the last week she has also banned her mum from the hospital because they had an argument.

I'm afraid I'm getting to the stage that I'll have to tell her exactly what I think - that she needs to stop acting like a stroppy 6 year old and have a think about the help she has been getting from everyone and about what she has been giving out in return.

Like her child. Perhaps explain that one in explicit detail.

Now I'm starting to think that I'm being selfish by not giving her any sympathy. Oh great, I really need the guilt trip inflicted by my own warped mind.

Some people deserve it, and some people don't. The difference is not the situation - but the person.

No. It isn't. You are being very kind and generous. She needs a reality check.

If this was out of character for her, I would be saying it's probably some sort of post-traumatic stress caused by recent events, and would say just bite your tongue and ignore it. But it sounds like she behaves like this on a fairly regular basis?

It's a difficult situation with her being in hospital, because obviously you don't want her son to be stuck in the middle of an argument, so I would maybe just keep doing what you are doing for now, but agree with your OH that this is where it stops and you wont put up with her treatment of you/him any longer. And then make sure he sticks to that once she is out of hospital.

I decided to send another text, asking if I'd upset her. I was very surprised when the reply came through: "No, why?"

I said that I'd sent a few texts that she hadn't replied to and she said "it's obvious you've never had a kid." Sweet.

I'm going to leave it for now but I will have to say something soon. Can't bite my tongue forever.

Anyways, as I've stayed in all day I haven't spent any money. Hooray!!!!

Argh! It's just about 3 in the morning and I'm still awake. I went to bed just before midnight, knowing that I have to be up early in the morning, and haven't been able to get my mind to shut down. It's the first day of my school experience placement today and I'm going to turn up with black circles under my eyes, yawning non-stop and generally being exhausted. Not a good start to a hectic and strssful 3 weeks.

Ooooh. I wish I'd thought of that ZTD.

Today was really good. I got stuck straight in helping the kids with their maths and language work. Didn't get much sleep last night though and I've been working away at lessons and resources since I got home so I'm totall knackered now. I reckon I'll finish one more thing tonight then head in and start before the kids come in tomorrow.

BF has just turned into a mardy bum for some reason - something about having his nephew tonight and having to play the Wii when he wanted to play properly. "Erm, so sorry for you darling. Now why don't you go away and grow up?"
