Hi all
Just checking in quickly, feeling very down, another visit to the opticians today and I still can't see properly. And DH is not feeling too good.
But I have done a full day at the paid stuff, put a load of laundry in and hoovered and dusted the LR.
Tomorrow is another day right?6 -
short_bird said:Cloth_of_Gold said:I bought a lovely woollen overcoat in the post-Christmas sales and I don't want it to be eaten, so tomorrow I'm going to vacuum it (just in case) and put it in a zip bag in the wardrobe until next autumn/winter, with some (hopefully effective) moth repellent. Thanks for the suggestion but it's way too big to freeze. It's only a couple of months old and we have only started to see the moths in the last few days so hopefully it's ok. I saw two today - one I caught and threw it out of the window to take its chances and the other was caught by one of the traps. This morning I took A to the building society where he had an appointment to open this year's ISA. Despite being a customer for donkey's years he had to answer all manner of questions including what he was saving for. He said, care home fees!I collected the things that were having the buttons replaced/re-attached and went home and made lunch. After lunch I washed up and then cleaned the bathroom and did some online banking and placed an Ocado order for Thursday and the laundry came for the things they do. This evening I popped over to some friends for a drink then came back and made supper and I'm about to wash up.8

K came round this morning to help me change both beds and clean through: I PUPA and dusted, while she hoovered. All (apart from mopping the kitchen floor) was done in 2 hours, leaving me just enough time to give Rosie a short walk and eat lunch before DH took me to the horse piddle.
I have now had my second cataract op. I feel very much better than I did after the first one - this time I have one good eye to rely on, which is vastly different to not being able to see out of either - so I asked the discharge nurse if I was allowed to go out to a meeting this evening. She said "Yes, if you don't do anything and your husband brings you a cup of tea," so he did and I (almost) did. It was a very good speaker meeting with lots of discussion afterwards, and as it had originally been my suggestion to organise the event, I was extremely glad that I was well enough to support it.5 -
YL, sorry to hear about your eyes an your DH not feeling well. Hope things are better tomorrow.

Iona.. so glad the second op went well.. I didn't want to say on Sunday in case it made you worried.. y mothers second one was awful she said. Apprently had it been the first she would not have gone back for the second. They also found a non-malicious looking weird 'thing' in the back of her eye.. they had no idea what it is other than 'weird and red.
Off to my nest.. early night..
We have a sofa to move after the school run in the morning.. Fingers crossed for job news for OH.. He is twitchy but hopeful for good news.. I am in a spiral of panic about how I will get 3 girls to 2 different school at the same time!
cocoa in the urn and jam tarts and muffins in the tub.. enjoy

Pigpen, I'm sorry your mother had a bad experience second time round. I can't say that my second op was any more pleasant than the first one - for a long time my right eye has been more light-sensitive than the left one used to be, so the glare was particularly painful - but the difference in my balance and general ability to get around is very noticeable. Also, DH is being more helpful than he was first time round, and I've been obliged to become accustomed to him doing the driving. He still scares me, but it's like going to the dentist: I avert my gaze and try to think of something else and relax
My follow-up appointment with the consultant is not until 7th May, so I'd be more-or-less confined to barracks or public transport (which mostly doesn't run where I need to go, when I need to go) unless I let DH take me. Scary but necessary.
I've already drunk 2 cups of tea and checked bank payments. There's a bit more admin to finish off today and phonecalls to make, as well as some clean washing from yesterday to hang on the airers in the bathroom (DH carried the heavy crate upstairs), but otherwise I seem to have caught up with the essentials just in time.
Hope everyone has a good day. Peace vibes to round's office, GWS to MrYL, and fingers crossed for MrP xxx4 -
Morning All,
Iona I am delighted for you. Make sure you take it easy where possible xx
YL I am so sorry to hear this. Can your optician or GP refer you to the eye hospital? Sorry that sounds such a basic idea, I am sure you have already thought of this. Thinking of you xx
Piggers - everything crossed for your DH. If you post me the driving forms I will happily do whatever needs to be done xx
It is sunny here but rain set to arrive at 11am. It really is getting people down now, my 77 yr old friend who has farmed here forever said it's the worst he's ever seen it, and he is getting down.
I snoozed the alarm too much so didn't get up until 6.15am. So far:
- stripped my bed and that is in the WM
- fed chickens, collected eggs and topped up their water
- FU dry laundry - on stairs waiting to go up
- Emptied DW
- Added another bag to the bin which is outside waiting to be collected
- Emptied ash pan into bucket of water, re-poked the fire and it is blazing again
On the "to do" list today:
1. Tip run later this afternoon
2. 8 hours paid stuff
3. Clean garage windows
4. Plumber coming to fix new radiator - ask him about removing an unused socket too
5. Order external 2TB hardrive thing for DS (HOW MUCH?!?!?!?)
6. Take DS to and from sports club
7. Complain to Nike about DD's trainers (less than 6 months old)
That is enough for now. I hope you all have lovely days xx5 -
Morning all
woke up early with a very mild nosebleed…fortunately i had the sense to check what it was before moving much so my new carpet is safe. Popped a washload in; although rain is forecast today tomorrow should be warm, dry and breezy.
Paid stuff today.
Have found a car insurance quote on quidco compare but need to check T&Cs as it’s with the same company i’m with now; it would be worth paying slightly more as quidco are offering £45 cash back so need to ensure i’m eligible.
The rain was so foul yesterday i just did not feel like flying. Glad i didn’t as i dropped the vegetable oil bottle and a bit spilled; had i flown i might have done the kitchen. Yet, give me a bright sunny day and i’ll happily clean!
