Morning all
Making the most of the last day of the hols here. It’s actually sunny this morning, hurrah! So far I have fed the hens, loaded the DW, feed the dogs, put a pork shoulder in the slow cooker and got the living room fire going again. It’s a complete lazy day here for all of us, apart from the cooking and clearing up of the Sunday roast. Packed lunches to make, school bags to pack and uniforms to sort. Roll on the 6 week holidays!
CoG - I hope you all enjoy lunch, you’ve gone to such a lot of effort they are very lucky to have such a thoughtful host xxIona - I am so pleased you had a good day our lovely, you deserve it xx
Have fab days all xx6 -
Good morning 😊
Had the bed to myself last night. I slept okay - except for my 5.8kg cat decided 5:40am was a good time to place chase your tail on the bed! I then I had this horrible moment when I thought "what if it's not his tail?!" 😱 Luckily he got bored and wandered off, so I think it was okay 👍 He is a lump!! The Little cat is currently scratching at DS's bedroom door, which she has been doing on & off since about 6am 🙄 The sooner he gets his fish tank set up again & out of a box in his room, the better!!
DH is about to set off on the Manchester marathon. I am tracking him on the website, but back in bed with a cuppa 👍 Apparently there is a live stream too, but that would involve putting my glasses on! 😂 I know it doesn't seem like it, but I have more important things to do than watch TV for the next 4 hours or so 😂
On that note, today's plan involves some allotment time, dinner & knitting. Yesterday I finally sowed some seeds which are in the greenhouse or the heated propagator in the summerhouse, get my nails done, do some knitting & put in the DW.
Have a good day all. cog I hope the dinner goes well - it sounds amazing!6 -
Morning everyone, guess who... did you all miss me..lol?
I seem to be posting every now and again rather than regularly..I'm so sorry. I delurk for a bit and then lurk again - I'm really not sure why I do this especially as I used to be such a prolific poster many moons ago. I suppose I let my MH dictate to me what I do and don't do when I'm awake (does that make sense to you?) It also doesn't help that I've got a lot of pain in various places at the moment - bl00dy arthritis!!! And this damn problem means I want to sleep a lot too.. Ok if I was a horse I would be shot...lol Thankfully we seem to be losing the horrible weather that we've been having for the past 6 months and Spring is finally showing herselfAlthough they are forecasting it to get colder again the following week, that doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't rain. I'm so sick of rain - we never got this much rain in Kent and now we are in Wales to tell you the truth this is a shock to the system so much rain..lol Do you know we had so much rain last week that our new water butt filled up fully within 2 days..poor DH had to empty it down the drain as the garden really couldnt' take any more..such a waste of water!
I have been decluttering things as I go along though, and I have actually got my recipe books, that I use, finally in the kitchen bookcase. And all the normal books I want to read in the small bookcase in the living room, the rest went to the CS.
I would like to declutter the weeds in the veg plots today as I have some veggie plants, that we bought from the small garden centre near us, before they get too leggy and I can't do anything with them.
I did something totally out of character yesterday, DH and myself went to our small local Spring Fair in the village hall in our village. It was only a small affair but I thought we really should start getting involved in village life after 7 months of keeping ourselves to ourselves. I'm not sure I found anyone from my little section of the village but I did get talking to a few people and bought some pretty little things for the house, as well as some homemade cake (it was that lovely old school cake that we used to have at school - jam and coconut ontop of sponge and it was gorgeous with custard last night), jam and pickled onions
The lambs our out in the fields around us and it's gorgeous to hear and see when I'm walking the dog but I wish somebody had told me the darn sheep or lambs bleat at 3am in the morning as these ones definitely do...lol
(ooops sorry about size of the pics....)
It's so lovely here and such a lovely change from where we were = all we ever saw was building works, lots of people and cars, sirens etc.. you can imagine. Now we are lucky if we even hear a siren at all - I think DH heard his first siren in Aber the other day..I haven't heard one at all..lol
I'm sorry I have only skim read through the thread so I'm sorry if I have missed anything
I'm going to try and be a bit more proactive, especially now the weather is better - it makes me want to do stuff..lol Plus I really need to get back ontop of everything again, so will hopefully manage the lists..or at least some of them..
Hugs and snuggles to everyone xxxx

Thanks ASB and Goodintentions.I did finish off the cake last night p rilling out my marzipan for the middle and filling and topping with buttercream and decorating it, so it's all done. Thanks goodness I did so much yesterday as I was woken at just after 4 am by a loud noise coming from one of the other flats. One of the occupants couldn't get into her flat for some reason and was trying to wake her flatmate. This went on for nearly half an hour before we went out and asked her to stop. She was very apologetic but by that time our sleep was totally disturbed and I didn't get back to sleep until after 5.30. Consequently I didn't wake up until nearly 9 (so missed church) and am now running late.Anyway, here is today's list:Nip out and buy the paper.Prep vegTidy and vac sitting roomClean bathroomFinish laying the tableWrap birthday present and ask A to write the card (his handwriting is much nicer than mine)Make canapesCook and serve lunchWUPA7

Sympathy please. I fell.
I was pegging out my washing and I fell over the wash basket and face planted the ground. Nothing broken. No blood. My nose hurts. My knees hurt. And my left wrist and right ankle are starting to sing. Luckily I faceplanted mossy grass but I think I pushed my glasses into my nose before they fell off. Sooo glad my glasses didn't break. I can afford a new wash basket...it did break, but £600 for new glasses would have been hit.
My biggest fear for ages has been if I fell and couldn't get back up. Thankfully, once I'd retrieved my glasses and sat a few minutes, I was able to get onto my knees and push up on the wash basket- the not broken bit! The relief! So I'm inside feeling battered, and congratulating myself on not faceplanting in the cat 💩 deposited on the grass further over!!! Every cloud has a silver lining.
Parrots and a coffee are required methinks....did I mention that my nose hurts...wince

Ditto what Piggers said - and check your house insurance - your glasses may be covered on that - or add then on...£600 is a massive hit!
Washing on the line.
