I lurrrrvvve guinea fowl! And I think I read marzipan too, so I’d very much like to book my train ticket too. Is a liberty scarf optional or de rigeur?
It’s been a beautiful day down here. I spent a couple of hours doing heavy digging and turf moving at the allotment, which is still on the sodden side of damp. Back home for a quick lunch, then it’s been work in the back garden. I’m officially knackered now, making a batch cooking list of meals to prep up for DD to take back to uni with her next week.Round, you reminded me - I saw David Essex and the Osmonds - not in their hay day, as I’m too young for that, obviously 😉. Jeff Healey band at the Hammersmith Apollo, that was a good night.5 -
Update:Pudding made and chilling in the fridge (I wish I was chilling somewhere but not in a fridge
). I tried to make the walnut marzipan but whether it was the new grinder that it is useless or walnuts don't really grind I don't know, but I ended up with a mess when I did a test run. Fortunately I had taken the precaution of buying some ground almonds so I made more or less conventional marzipan, adding amaretto instead of egg yolk to bind, and some coffee essence. It's now in clingfilm in the fridge.
The butter is softening for the buttercream, which I will make after supper. I might fill and top the cake this evening rather than leave it until tomorrow as it is supposed to be quite cool tomorrow and I don't want to be frustrated by trying to spread buttercream that isn't soft! I popped out and bought some flowers and arranged them in two vases (let's hope thy don't bring any tomorrow) and collected a prescription for A.
I'm just having a glass of wine prior to preparing A's supper (I'm not hungry so will probably just have a couple of Ryvita and cheese or something). I fear I shan't get the cleaning done as well this evening so will probably have to do that tomorrow morningI hope I haven't droned on too much today but it's therapeutic - for me if not for anyone else!@Fayolle nothing would give me greater pleasure than having you and ASB for lunch. Maybe one day that could happen; I live one day at a time but who knows. Scarves, Liberty or otherwise, would be optional; laughter would not!7 -
@Cloth_of_Gold it will happen, one day. You could make me beans on toast and I’d be happy! Have a fabulous time tomorrow and never worry about droning on. I do it all the time! I love hearing about everyone’s day.
Watching ‘cleaning up’ on Netflix, v good xx

Have a lovely time CofG I hope your efforts are appreciated! And ASB I feel your pain with the financial stuff, DH is supposed to be able to manage on £90 a week while he is signed off. I wish we hadn't got into debt when we were younger but no point thinking that now. Oh and I have access to a fancy colour printer if you ever need it x
A good day here, did a nice chatty Saturday volunteering session, cycled there and back. Then did a few jobs and went to DSs to take them a bed that we have been given for them. Sat in their garden drinking tea and watching DS cut their grass.
Raining when we got back so the washing is now over the airer. I am not on top of the flying at all and tomorrow I am doing an extra volunteering session because they are desperate for help. I am hoping to persuade DH to go with me as it would do him good to socialise a bit. I will have to try and fly a bit when I get back.
I now have three different eye drops to use alongside the eye mask that you heat in the microwave. I think it might be helping a little.8 -
eek.. CoG be a cannibal!!! You cannot have Fayolle or ASB for lunch!!

Had a very pleasant day. Lovely blossom, poetry, art and lunch at the NT property, and a great concert by a talented folk trio this evening at the church in the next village. I needed all of that!
DH's driving still scares me, though...5 -
I had to share the card Mr N gave me - how well he knows me! No flying other than helping bil in the kitchen while we stay with him. Lovely sea swim yesterday.
Also enjoying music discussions. My first memory of getting into pop as a youngster was Flower Power, then Glam Rock. Always loved Queen, saw them several times and have touched Freddie! Have seen Gary Glitter, Status Quo, Meatloaf, Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, Bryan Adams, James.....to name a few oldies. In the car I listen to Magic Musicals or Poets of the Fall - a band from Finland I love and have seen. Also enjoy some classical, any Latin that reminds me of zumba and light opera. Sorry one of the few bands I'll turn off is Simply Red.

Piggers, it did cross my mind to change it to 'invite you to come for lunch' or similar but couldn't be bothered as I didn't think anyone would pick up on it - trust you lol.@Narc0lepsy love the card.Marzipan rolled out and put in middle of cake, coffee buttercream made and also put in middle and on top, and top decorated with walnuts and coffee chocolates. It looks quite nice but I hope I don't mess it up getting it out of the tin. Let's hope it tastes nice too after all this effort.Tomorrow's tablecloth ironed and put on but folded back for A's breakfast things in case he spills anything! 2/3 eye meds done and I'll do the last one in a minute, clean my teeth and go to bed. I have to be up early tomorrow to go to the 08.30 and then do the rest of the lunch preps.8

CoG.. I am the funghi!! Champion of the 'dad jokes' .. I'd probably have giggled over the potential for an innuendo with the change..
I have started the cable hoodie for Jazzles.. I am just hoping it fits.. I do not want to pull it out and knit it bigger if I can help it.
Off to my nest.. pains au chocolat in the snack drawer and kiwis in the fridge.. horlicks and cup-a-soups out for the WAC.. NN my dearies.. I have a mad busy day tomorrow

Morning my lovelies xx
I looked at the clock at 6am, meh, turned over and woke up at 8am. Horrible dream though, so a double edged sword!
I'm up, made my bed, set towels and tea towels swishing, completed Wordle and Connections, changed the battery in LR clock, and I'm supping my first brew.
