Glad that your DS made it to the exam @Thrifty_Taylor and yay for taxi driver. I bet that was a bit stressful for both DH and DS at the point of realisation! Well done him for going! And glad the other DS survived the explosion. A lucky day all round!
Am feeling like progress is being made through the massive list of things to do before renting the flat out, thanks to the push my friend gave me last Sunday/Monday. Have made good use of journeys to and from my real house which is an hour away, relocating furniture and a kayak, collecting click n collect from IKEA, doing a tip run and a charity shop drop off en route. Also felt able to get a couple of jobs at the house done in the 24 hours I was there, moved some furniture round, blitzed laundry so have clean bedding for a friend who is coming later this week, made more lists, gave notice to cleaner who really doesn't leave place much cleaner than they find it, and isn't the right fit for the house. These tasks are all linked to trying to make each place 'wash it's own face' if not be income generating.
Now just have to keep the momentum going amid aforementioned life admin, which is DDs financial aid application for her uni in 🇺🇸. This is the form where they ask me how many farms and how many factories I own. Still zero! The other questions aren't so easy as relate to expenditure and income over a period different to our tax years and about 3 years ago.
Have been to the gym, dropped some hangers at a community clothes sale, now home waiting for dad to wake up, I think it is time to check for signs of life! He needs help with a few things this morning, and in turn is going to help me stretch the fabric over a headboard and chair I am recovering, and DC is keen to meet for a cuppa at my aunt's care home this afternoon. So I do have plenty of distractions from the form, but it is the most important thing for the weekend as a whole. That and getting the tangles out of my hair. Wind, rain and forgetting my hairbrush on my overnight stay this week have not been a forgiving combo!

Hi all, thanks to @grandmanerd for offering to do May. I'll run a thread sometime in the coming months too (it will keep me on the straight and narrow!!)

Evening turtles, today has been a super spendy day but most of it was planned.
Went horse riding first thing, ankle held up fine although I'm still strapping it up. Then got the train into London to an open day for the uni I'll be attending come September. Helpful to get a feel of the place although because of the nature of my course most of my work will be online/weekend blocks so I won't need to physically attend too much.
I had some time to kill so decided to go to the British library, I had wanted to check it out as a potential study space anyway, ended up getting carried away in the book shop and got a few interesting historical type books. Then walked to Shaftesbury Avenue for a late lunch with a friend who I met through an old job. Great to catch up and I also asked her some questions about working as a locum in our field as she's done it before and it's something I wanted to know more about. All that said, it really gave me a kick up the backside to stop wasting money (see unnecessary book purchase!) and really knuckle down to try and hit my savings goal and perhaps a little extra.
Just home and have popped my pyjamas on and currently on the sofa with my hot water bottle. OH is out for the night so got the house to myself, time to get cosy.Save £3,000 emergency fund #79 - £2,066.55 as of 04/249 -
Today I am grateful for finding lots of thank you presents for pip's teachers with pip, for the rain not arriving until this evening, for getting a workout done as pip bouldered, for easy meals, for the honeysuckle thriving and providing a nice bit of privacy in the back garden.Starlight and Shrewbie, thank you for offering to run a month. ❤️NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Good luck with the form @Starlight_at_Sea. Hope your ankle feels better soon @lcc86. Thanks for offering to do May's thread @grandmanerd.
Up early for a Saturday morning. Did Norwegian, wrote the big monthly shopping list & hung some washing on the line. Had 10% off at L1DL, so was good timing. Went to T0sco too. Was good to see mum.
Spent 2 hours weeding a border in the front garden this afternoon, had the radio playing on catch up, & the sun was shining, so I was very happy!
Finished my book whilst eating tea, then knitted & watched TV.
Grateful for a nice day, the hotel where DS1 works posting about him in their 'Meet the Team' posts & being very complimentary, planning a trip next weekend with DH to a neighbouring island to walk up the highest peakUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

The form is done! The evidence has been located...The uploads are uploaded... Am confident on all of the 100+ questions bar the two on pensions Have tried to find numbers from most recent pension benefits statements that seem to correlate to what was being asked, but was all a bit abstract given the different ways these things work on each side of the Atlantic. They can always come back for more info if they don't think it sounds right, and I will explain it's DD has the brains not me Feeling mightily relieved, worth the late night!

I spent yesterday afternoon with my granddaughter and her parents. She's approaching the terrible twos and we had a few tantrum wobbles (once because I couldn't get up fast enough). Only one bout of tears which I stopped by hiding my head in a pillow and pretending to cry too (she gave in first and came to give me a hug to make me 'better'). Came home exhausted but happy, dragged myself upstairs and was asleep before 8 pm. I'd even kicked a ball at one point after making very sure I had hold of something - I'm not great of two feet, standing on one leg was lost in the mist of time.
One of DS2's friends has just set up a gardening business and as he's a former marine he should be able to tackle the heavy digging required to sort out the back yard at grandma's.
Grateful for family time, useful contacts and lovely food.11 -
Yes Kat was hardcore. I have to tackle things differently (if I asked you to only do what I can,you would all have completed the challenge by lunch on the first of May). However I have ways of doing things that may help others and often thinking about what I need in the month ahead resonates with others. The May challenge with be posted today - getting to the bathroom and back is enough of a physical challenge so far so I need activities that don't hurt creaky knees.10
