Ricotta is very low in fat and tastes great on pizzas, especially with spinach and peppers.0

Thanks for the reminder about the ricotta. I'm having to have a very low fat diet as part of holding gallstone symptoms at bay and I've been really missing pizza. I think I could try to make one with roast veg and ricotta rather than fried veg and mozarella and see if I can tolerate it.
Any other very low fat toppping ideas?0 -
Pizza base with just tomato sauce is nice IMHO. Or with grilled peppers and tomatos, or maybe some roasted aubergines. I have also had asaparagus on pizza and it was surprisingly nice0

Potato pizza dough
1 potato, about 155g (5oz) weight
345g (11oz) strong white flour
1 heaped teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried active yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
185ml hand-hot water
Scrub the unpeeled potato.
Boil in the skin for 30-40 mins. Drain and allow to cool sufficiently to remove the skin.
Sieve potato directly into flour.
I have a panasonic so add yeast, followed by flour, potato, salt & sugar. Add water last. Different breadmakers use different order of ingredients.
Put on dough cycle.
Knock out, and put into a 12 inch pizza tin. Pinch up edges to create a rim.
I have not tried this myself - so cannot guarantee success. I have seen other recipes on the internet (search potato pizza dough on google) and they use mash potato.

Could you use instant mash either in it's powder form or made up, for this dough0 -
Can you not use the tiny bit of oil needed to make a normal pizza base but then reduce your fat somewhere else in your diet?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Sorry, I don't know for sure, but I don't see why not.

Hi star-x,
I've added your post to an earlier thread that should help with making a pizza base. If you have a look in The Complete Pizza Collection where there are lots of threads with hints and tips on making homemade pizza.

Thanks sooo much, that was lovely of you. I dont have a breadmaker tho, oops. What i was wondering, i shouldve been more specific really, is there a way to make a pizza base by hand with cupboard ingredients, ie, can you just use flour, eggs, butter, milk etc, not yeast, i dont have any, and if i go near tescos for one thing i come out with 20 grrr lol, you can see from this post i havent a clue lol. Just thought it would be nice to do some cooking with the kids tomoz, the weather isnt going to be nice apparantley, and as of most kids, they looove pizza, and doing it hm, we can at least make it a healthier version xxxx0
