Bank transfer missing

Hi, I sent 2 x online bank transfer from my Lloyds bank account to the same company and the company that I sent the funds to are saying that they cannot find the payment, I gave them all the relevant information so they could they could do a payment trace on both payments, but still no luck, I have checked and double checked the acc number and sort code, they are both correct. The bank transfer was an immediate bank transfer and it’s been 16 days since I made the payment.

Lloyds have confirmed that the funds have left my account.

I just feel like I’m being left in limbo, all I’m getting from Lloyds is continue to wait and all I’m getting from the company that I sent the funds to, is we’ll do another payment, neither helps me.

Is there anything I can do, to get the funds refunded back into my account immediately?

Thank you in advance.

How sure are you of the account number and sort code?  Could it be a "man in the middle" attack or some variation?  Did you get a confirmation of payee when you set up the first payment?  Can you call the company and ask them to confirm their bank details?

Are you saying you used two different sort codes and account numbers? If so, why? How did you get the numbers? Have you confirmed with the company that the numbers are correct, and that they are looking for your payments in both accounts?
  • What sort of company is it, and what is your business with them that requires payment by bank transfer?  Are you sure this is not a scam of some sort?

The op uses the singular "account number" and "sort code", so I don't think that is what they are saying...

    No.

If you're sure that the money was sent to the right account then you should be able to get hold of the relevant transaction reference number (ARN I think it's called) from your bank to forward to the recipient's bank to trace it.

If the money was sent to an erroneous account then you can invoke your bank's misdirected payments process, but that entails the recipient's bank contacting the recipient to ask for the money back, and even if they agree, the process can take over a month.

If Lloyds are telling you to wait after 16 days, there's a chance they've held the payments up for checks.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Yes, but none of that contradicts or negates my post, the purpose of which was to emphasise that OP can't simply reverse the transaction and has to choose between two options.  Earlier posts have mentioned the potential for a 'man in the middle' scam, so even if OP has paid the account specified in an email (for example) that doesn't necessarily mean that it's genuine....

let's go back to the beginning when you set up the payee initially did the details match i.e did you get a positive COP result

who is the company and what are you paying them for
  • Thank you.

The reason I made 2 payments is because it was for 2 different Life Insurance policies, so had to be paid with individual policy numbers, to the same account and sort code. Account number, sort code and policy numbers have all been checked and correct. Both payments are missing. My bank have said that the 2 payments have definitely left my account and has not been bounced back, the company that I transferred the funds to have done a payment trace on both payments, with the payment reference numbers and they are still unable to locate the payments.
