  • Hey LG,

Ahh I really feel you... Despite the feelings of satisfaction at having my debt situation 'under control', and slowly but surely chipping away at it each month, I still also feel that anger... quite a lot sometimes.

I try to tell myself that hopefully the very same anger will be the thing that stops me from doing something stupid and getting myself back into debt in the future.

I've had a bit of a tough few months here too, but also hoping that 2025 is going to be a bit of a turning point.

    So, cheers to that!

    Onwards and upwards!
  • Sorry you're having a tough time. You're doing an excellent job not gambling, and chipping away at the debt.

It will all feel worth it when it's gone!

If the boredom gets too much its important to loosen your grip on the wallet now and again to have some family fun, otherwise a spending blip can ensue - we've all been there, but you need to be especially careful
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
  • Yes I would echo @mark55man. If it becomes too boring and tedious paying off the debt the chances of a blow out increase. From memory is the debt interest free? If so taking a few months longer to pay back the debt so you can do fun things with your wife and family won’t make much difference.
  • Thanks for the heads up - I’ve increased my monthly fun spending but whatever isn’t spent is going into the debt account.

Just done a bank switch from an old TSB account a few legacy DD hope to get £175 which will nearly clear my NatWest CC and that will be the first one done.

Two children at 3 and 1 is pretty full on - hard to have much energy for anything after spending days with them! Ha ha.

  • Agreed on the kids, mine are now 4 and 7 months and a day with them is amazing, but so tiring!

We've all been unwell too, and we've spent so much money on convenience food because we don't have any energy left to cook.

I really try and make the most of it though, even when I'm tired. I'm so aware that they're only this age once, and they're so bloody cute. Even if I'm exhausted 90% of the time 😂
  • Halloween activities have been good - spending a bit of money on fun stuff.

Took the family out for a meal, my wife said we should do this more. This was helped by both of my demons eating and sitting still for the entire meal. It was nice to be out with everyone for a meal.

About to break £500 on my Natwest card today. This is a great achievement for me. Hope to clear within two months if not before.

    Then MBNA...

No gambling still on cards. Which is great.
